 Introduction

     Under the tutelage of Vriean, Yainell had learned to understand the flow and fabric of time. She replicated its matrix in her studies, broken it down to its principles in her lab, and rewritten it into seperate pocket continuums that disappeared into nothingness once her fascination with them dwindled. No matter what she did, no matter how astounding her research, she was forever unsatisfied with the result. Yainell was, at heart, looking for but one thing: the essence that constructed time.

     Time was nothing but a derivation of 'change' - as many things in the world were - but the heralded Witch of Time herself could not extract that essence. She caught glimpses of it - short, fleeting glances of powers that slept between the passing of one second to the next. But try as she might, she could not grasp it, much less harness it. 

     The Halstuen of Sheulfé received wind of her work and sent word to her, that she would give Yainell all that she needed to fulfill her ambitions in exchange for the exclusive rights to her time magic. Of course, the Halstuen was very aware that it was a deal mostly in her favor, as what folly was it to even fathom deconstructing time, and with war at their footsteps, she could use an agent of valuable talent like Yainell. 

     In such a state, Yainell was annointed the Court Mage.
