Princess Petunia

Petunia is a female RainWing NightWing hybrid princess. In her present lore, she is four to six years old in dragon years (this would be up to 14-17 in human years). She is a princess and daughter of Glory and Deathbringer (canon characters in the Wings of Fire book series) and hatched in 5017 A.S. Since her mother is a RainWing, Petunia's dominant gene is RainWing, so she has more RainWing traits. Her theme song is Close to the Sun x origin epic orchestra remix that was made up of TheFatRat's songs but put together by Beyond Gaia's Horizon.

When one looks at Petunia, one of the first things they would notice are her cyan scales and the fact that she doesn't exactly look full RainWing. She has a purple underbelly, with wings and frills that match. Her head and horns are black, along with her spikes and little spots, and the little spots on her neck cannot camouflage or change color with her mood like the rest of the scales on her body, but instead remain their same black color. She has white claws, a white nose horn, and green eyes that are such a bright shade of green that they seem to almost glow with an innocent sort of appearance. Her horns are not curvy like a normal RainWing's, but instead straight like the horns of a NightWing. Another NightWing feature she has is a forked black tongue that occasionally flickers in and out like that of a regular NightWing's tongue. Petunia wears a pink and yellow flower crown, with the colors of the flowers and buds being inverted. She also wears a flower bracelet of the exact same-colored flowers, which is sometimes shown on her right wrist, other times on her left wrist. Petunia has a body shape that is on the skinnier side but is healthily shaped.

Petunia has a personality similar to that of me. She is a social extrovert who is excitable, enthusiastic, and sweet and bubbly at times. However, how social she is depends on who she is hanging out with. She functions better in a group, so she likes to hang out with friends, and can sometimes get upset when she doesn’t get to. Not feeling included can also upset her and she is also very sensitive. She tends to make friends easily. Even the slightest things can excite Petunia, so she tends to be easily surprised or amazed and she is rather childish. She likes to go for the good things in life, but when the bad things in life happen, she has trouble fighting them off. Loyalty is one of Petunia’s biggest traits, and she sometimes takes it too far. She can find someone to hang out with and end up being clingy to them and not wanting to leave their side. Petunia's loyalty is pretty much unconditional especially towards friends and would care for someone even if they hurt her feelings before. Seeing a good friend sad can sadden her deeply, causing her to cry. This is partially because due to her NightWing genes, she is an empath and she can feel the emotions of others, but only if she feels close to them. Petunia likes peace and doesn’t see a point in arguing or fighting. Like me, seeing those she loves argue can make her upset and even deeply tear her apart. She deeply cares about all her friends, but since she posesses ADHD, she can sometimes think they don't want her around and tries to distance herself from them. Petunia can also be really affectionate, and isn't afraid to show it, even giving hugs and cuddles to someone who doesn't want it, just because she loves them. A great example would be her mother, Queen Glory of the RainWings (The canon character in Wings of Fire), who she feels very close to. Petunia is always willing to stick by her mother's side, whether she is giving a speech, ordering dragons around, or just having sun time, and sit or lay right next to her (despite the fact that Glory probably is not the biggest fan of this). Petunia likes doing things for her mother such as picking flowers or fruit for her, or even going as far as to make her a flower crown. She also likes to spend time with her many siblings (literally everyone's Glorybringer child OCs) and sometimes her father Deathbringer (the canon character in Wings of Fire) who she cares about just as much. Petunia also does things such as making stuff for friends. Despite her loyalty and love for her family, however, Petunia does not really like to be told to do things, and dislikes chores. She can sometimes be lazy and would rather lay in a hammock and sleep and watch clouds than sweep the platforms or shake leaves out of the hammocks. She prefers to do work by choice rather than by orders. She loves sunny days, rainy days, and drawing. She takes passion in art and wants to do it as a career one day. She has trouble staying organized due to her ADHD, and for a royal, she is a messy eater. Her living space usually isn't very clean. For the same reason she is often hyperactive and has trouble paying attention to someone who is talking, and she also can get hyper at some times more than others. She gets distracted easily. She also has difficulty controlling her volume due to her ADHD and can be too loud at times, hurting others' ears. She gets very offended when she sees someone plugging their ears from her being too loud, which can lead to her being sad.

Despite being a princess of the RainWings and the NightWings, Petunia doesn't really seem to know nor care about her future and the power she'd be able to possess one day if she becomes queen. Unlike most canon wings of fire princesses, she doesn’t really look forward to being queen, and doesn’t boss others around or act stuck up. She has learned from past experiences to just focus on the present. As a princess, she would much rather relax in her treehouse, sit next to her mother, pick fruit, and play in the rain rather than look forward to bossing around two entire tribes of dragons. Her siblings have told her before because of this that she would make a bad and lazy queen. When Petunia is younger, this doesn’t seem to bother her. But as she gets older, these words begin to bother her, and she starts to want to prove to her siblings that she wouldn’t be a bad queen. It is a possibility that as Petunia gets older, she may get more and more bothered by this. Petunia also has anxiety and big changes can sometimes be a struggle for her. She can also be sensitive, and can be physically hurt easily, even from a small wound. Sometimes, due to her autism, she can get overstimulated by loud, continuous noises. She can also get irritable at times due to her autism and can't help lashing out at others when she is like this. She cannot tell when dragons are joking and can lash out at rude humor, feeling hurt when she later on realizes that they are joking.

Petunia is also lesbian but doesn't find this out until later. In the Random Moments of JMA series, she does go to the school dance with a male Mud/Sand named Alligator, but never felt any romantic attraction towards him and didn't know why.

Petunia’s voice sometimes sounds childish, and other times, it sounds teenage. It is described by others as being somewhat cute and soothing. Her voice claim is me.

Since almost every day for Petunia has been the same, she doesn’t have much of a backstory. However, on the day she hatched, her parents (Glory and Deathbringer) were thinking of a name to give her, and someone who works for Glory came in and told her that the petunias needed to be watered. This gave Glory and Deathbringer the idea to give their daughter the name Petunia.

When Petunia was just two, she was just hanging out outside when she thought she heard something. Once she looked, she discovered a strangely colored pink sloth in the bushes. She was curious as to why the sloth’s fur was pink, and so she took it in and took care of it in her treehouse. The sloth never left Petunia’s side, so she knew she had been chosen. She named the sloth Dreamy, and still lives with it today.

Petunia first attended Jade Mountain Academy, when it had its new schooling system, when she was only one. She was put in the Quartz Winglet with the other dragonets her age, because of the new schooling system, the Winglets were now dependent on age and could hold many dragons. This is where The Random Moments of JMA series begins. Petunia and her friends' immaturity and innocence were at their peak.
When Petunia turned two, she was put in the Copper Winglet, where things with the friends she made began to change. She didn't understand why one of her friends, Crystal, who was supposedly her sister, was so upset, and why her other friend Aquamarine (OC belongs to an irl friend) was also upset at her. The school year didn't get to completely end because a minor pandemic had spread across Pyrrhia and dragons had to stay home from school for their safety. Petunia didn't get to understand what was really going on and was filled with anxiety.
Over the summer she had realized that Crystal was actually a male SilkWing named Atlas (OC belongs to an irl friend) who was animus enchanted to turn into a female rain-night named Crystal and pretend to be one of Glory and Deathbringer's heirs to try and understand why they had such a large royal family. Petunia was upset that Atlas/Crystal wasn't really her sister and lashed out at him. She soon regretted it and broke down, writing him an apology letter. Atlas received and accepted the letter and became Petunia's friend again right before her third hatching day, and all was forgiven. When Petunia went back to school, she was in the Silver Winglet.
When Petunia turned four, she was in the Gold Winglet. The vaccine for the virus was found. Petunia was generally pretty happy. When she turned five, she was in the Jade Winglet, and she graduated from Jade Mountain Academy right before she turned six.

Petunia currently lives a happy life in the rainforest with her parents Glory and Deathbringer (the canon characters from the Wings of Fire series), her many siblings (other people’s Glorybringer child OCs along with the canon possible future Firefly), and her pet pink sloth named Dreamy, who she keeps in her treehouse. Sometimes, she can be found spending time with a family member, whether she is sitting next to her mother while she is making an announcement, getting assassin lessons from her father along with her siblings (which isn’t her favorite thing, because she prefers peace), getting venom practice, or playing with one or more of her siblings. Her impatience and inability to always pay attention can make her venom trainers impatient. Other times, she can be found alone, whether guarding the entrance of the rainforest like she was told to, or picking flowers or fruit for her family, or just hanging out in her treehouse or in a hammock.

Petunia likes to hang out in her treehouse when she isn’t doing anything else. Since she’s spoiled often, Queen Glory had a personal treehouse built just for Petunia. Petunia sometimes just stays alone in this treehouse, whether she is resting in her hammock, eating fruit on the patio, enjoying sunshine on a balcony, birdwatching, or spending time in the basement. Sometimes, she hosts sleepovers at her treehouse, so her friends can come over and hang out with her, since she likes to be social. She also has a bridge in the back of the treehouse leading to a large trampoline woven from ropes in between four large trees. When she hosts sleepovers, she sometimes brings her friends over to jump on the trampoline. When she is alone in her treehouse, however, she still has her sloth, Dreamy, to keep her company. She doesn't mind not having other dragons around when she is in her treehouse.

Petunia usually wakes up in the morning wherever, whether it’s her treehouse or a random hammock in the rainforest. She would usually fly down to the rainforest floor and rinse in the morning dew that drips from the rainforest plants to keep clean. She’d spend the rest of her day relaxing in the sun, picking fruit or flowers, hanging out with a family member or getting lessons from them, spending time in her treehouse, or eating. Like most RainWings, she prefers to eat fruit, but because of her NightWing side, she will also eat meat, just not as much.

From ages 2-7, Petunia attends Jade Mountain Academy. This is in my Wattpad series The Random Moments of JMA, featuring Petunia attending a much more evolved future-version of Jade Mountain Academy with friends who are the OCs of my friends in real life. The story is based off of my life IRL with my friends at school, but as dragons, hence why it’s considered “random” and doesn’t have much of a plot. The series is currently ongoing.

Petunia graduates Jade Mountain Academy just before she hits 7. At age 8, she attends a college to get into art as a career.

Petunia has many friends since she is so social, extroverted, and fun to be around. Most of her friendships are wholesome and healthy.

Petunia has different possible futures in her timeline.

Artist Future
Requirements: Glory and Deathbringer are alive. one dying in any way or both dying of old age will not affect this as she understands that death is something that will happen. A new queen [not Petunia] will not affect this either.
Possibility to Happen: likely.
After Petunia finishes college, she gets a job as a commissioned artist. She draws pictures in her treehouse and dragons buy them and they pay her. She is mentally happy for the most part as she is doing what she loves. This future is likely.

Assassin Future
Requirements: Glory and Deathbringer both are killed instead of dying of old age, which is a surprise for her as she does not like big changes.
Possibility to Happen: thin.
Petunia does not like big changes and something happening to both her parents, rather than them dying of old age peacefully, would shock her. She would no longer feel happy in the rainforest as it just reminds her of her parents, so she would leave it. She wouldn't know what to do with her life, so she would look for job opportunities outside of the rainforest. She would have trouble finding a job, but would one day see an open opportunity for assassins for hire. It would remind her of her father's former job and would take the job, wanting to be like him and make him proud. However, the killing and the violence involved in the job overwhelms and upsets her. It doesn't make her happy like she thought it would; it'd make it worse. She'd always be unhappy and struggle with her mental health. This future's likeliness is thin.

• Petunia was originally created in late ish 2018 on paper, from my brain. She did not have a canon design when I first made her, so my earliest drawings of her all had random colors. I would draw these colored pencils randomly and color her in trying to find colors I liked, and for some reason I kept drawing mostly blue and green colored pencils for her base color. I then decided to make her base scales a mix between the two; a blue green color. Her canon design still was not 100% completed until she was made half NightWing, which was why I gave her purple and black. Back then I was new to character design, which is why.
• Petunia was originally going to be a full RainWing with a sleepy smile who was lazy and always slept in a specific tree of mangoes.
• Petunia is named after my cat. The reason she originally was made was because one average day in 2018, I was talking to my cat, and I realized “hey, Petunia would be a cool RainWing name…” and then the existence of my Wings of Fire sona was born.
• I sometimes feel like I have a very special connection with Petunia, because I get really uncomfortable when she gets hurt in rp. This doesn’t apply to my other OCs as intensely.
• Petunia was originally NOT going to be half NightWing, OR a daughter of Glory and Deathbringer. The only reason I made this in her lore was because my friend at school suggested it, since they also had an OC that was a child of Glory and Deathbringer, and we called ourselves “sisters” often. I hate when I get criticized for having a Glorybringer child OC, since it wasn’t entirely my doing to make her this way. However, I can’t change this, since the whole Glorybringer child thing has become 90% of Petunia’s lore and changing it now would be changing her pretty much entirely, to the point where it’d make her into a whole new OC. So no, no matter how much I get criticized by people who don’t like Glorybringer, I’m not changing that part of Petunia’s lore or it’ll mess up her character.
• I came up with Petunia’s possible future in 2019, and I got the idea when my friends at the lunch table were talking about what would happen when Glory died. One of my friends, the one with the Glorybringer child OC, said their OC would possibly be queen. I tried to ask “what about Petunia?” but they were talking over me. That night, I brainstormed, and drew Petunia’s possible future in my sketchbook. However, due to out of character loopholes, I gave a major update to her assassin future in May 2023.
• The way Petunia was named was also drawn in my sketchbook in October 2019 and almost made into a Wattpad story. For some reason, I scrapped the idea.
• Petunia is one out of my two OCs to have been created before the Wings of Fire Roblox game existed, the other being a SilkWing named Violet.
• Petunia originally had a short addition to her lore in mid 2023 but I scrapped that part of her lore for reasons I'd rather not say.
• Petunia's life throughout the JMA series is based off my experience in high school.
