A shy and timid girl, Kaeru is a girl who slips under the radar around most people.
Because of her reclusive nature, Kaeru is often percieved as having total mutism, despite actually having selective mutism.

Kaeru is a girl who's timid around most people, due to her selective mutism.
When around people she's comfortable with, Kaeru is adventurous. She's excited to try new things, but is most passionate when she's around water. As her mother is a water based iailae, Kaeru is as well. She has a fond appreciation for frogs.
Kaeru is a human who wears frog-themed clothing and accessories.
Not only are her clothing and accessories frog-themed, but also double as rainwear.
- Kaeru has a green frog-themed backpack, with a small frog plushy peeking out from the flap.
- Kaeru's phonecase is also, unsurprisingly, frog themed with pastel greens.
- The frog umbrella that Kaeru carries can blink its eyes.
Kaeru was born to her mother Rania, as her father died before she was born. Growing up, Kaeru was a child with a single parent, but she didn't mind. She liked it farther than finding a new dad.
For Kaeru's early years, Rania didn't understand why her daughter was struggling with communcation with children of her age. When Rania visited a doctor, she learned that her daughter had selective mutism.
Because Rania had to adjust, she took it upon herself to find out what Kaeru liked. The mother and daughter spent much time together, often going out to parks solely to entertain Kaeru.
Kaeru continued to struggle with making friends, but eventually she made one: Ren. The two met when Kaeru bumped into him at school when she was thirteen, and have stuck togther since.
As the duo were inseperable, it was difficult to make any new friends for Kaeru, no matter how much she wanted to. However, her wish was granted, and she met Kailani. She brought spunkiness to the trio and was a breath of fresh air.
Despite this, Kaeru still hangs around closely to her mother, seeing as she's most comfortable around her.

Kaeru and Rania have always been close, ever since Kaeru was born. Kaeru is most comfortable talking with Rania, who listens closely as her daughter rambles.
Frequently, the pair go to parks with ponds to admire the scenery, as well as to bask in the peace and serenity.

Kailani and Kaeru aren't very close as Kaeru and her mother are, but despite this, the two manage to be friendly. With Kaeru's more reclusive personality and Kailani's explosive one, the two often come up with mischievious pranks.
Their prankster sides are tamed by Ren's stoic personality, but on occasion, he will join them in their jokes.

Ren and Kaeru aren't very close as Kaeru and her mother are, but despite this, the two manage to be friendly. With Kaeru's more reclusive personality and Ren's stoic and serious one, the two don't often get intro trouble. The two study for school together, as they work great together in peace.
When around Kailani, Kaeru gets influenced by her chaotic nature, and Ren has to keep the two in check.
