in my head theres not rlly much of a ""nuclear family"" unit in air nomad society .. its more like Yeah these are sm of the many older adult/mentor figures in ur life they just happen to share ur genetic material?? i think tht atla (and lok especially) dont rlly focus on air nomad culture so im rlly making a lot of it up.. nyways i think that the main adult in her life was kinda to them how monk gyatso was to aang? and i like to imagine that the air nomads hv like a fluid grasp on gender as a concept and are vry accepting of trans/nb ppl as a part of their society so it wasnt anyth out of the ordinary whn they came out as a teen.
i think that theyre ""unhealable wound"" is worry bt not just worry as a whole .. like they never know if theyre Doing It Right .
