Akemi is a very well-composed person. Many who first meet her note that she’s quite stoic, but as she opens up to people so do her emotions. Despite these first impressions, she does enjoy being around others, and tends to be very social. The nature of her position in the school does cause her to be less trusting of new people, but she is very clever and will know if someone is trustworthy or not. She carries herself very carefully, many will say that she’s a graceful person. Whether it be a mundane everyday task or fighting those who oppose her, she always has an air of sophistication to her.
She likes reading when she's by herself. She also loves looking at the sky and stars at night. She played volleyball for her middle school’s team, and still enjoys to play it for fun.

Summary
Akane Oshiro was a scientist that worked under Soichiro Kiryuin on developing life fibers, but needed to leave the profession due to her being pregnant with Akemi Oshiro. Soichiro, having a good idea of where life fiber research was leading to, encouraged Akane to leave, but they knew it wouldn’t be easy because of Ragyo. Soichiro and Akane were able to put together a ruse that the woman’s memories of all their research was erased using hypnotism, an act the two flawlessly executed. Before Akane made her final leave, Soichiro snuck a large amount of life fibers to her so she could continue ethical research on her own.
Shortly after Akemi’s birth, Akane’s husband passed from natural causes, and she went through a period of grief. However, her bright and cheerful child was not only a positive reminder of late husband, but also a source of joy and motivation. Using the information recovered from Soichiro, she started her research toward the development of a kamui, a powerful weapon made entirely of life fibers. She was close to completion of her life’s work, however needed a human subject to make the final notes on. She considered herself, since she didn’t want to use any other human. But her daughter, now a teenager, knew that she couldn’t take that risk. Akemi insisted the research be done on her. Since Akemi grew up around all her mother’s research, she was very interested in forwarding it and working for the cause. At the proposal of Akemi being the test subject, her mother immediately denied. However over time she realized she had no other choice, and began testing Juyo on Akemi.
The testing stage of transforming was very difficult. It was one of the things Soichiro was not able to pass on to her after she left. Akane couldn’t figure out the best way to make Juyo transform by will, and her best tests were by fusing life fibers with Akemi’s body parts. However these tests went wrong twice, on both of Akemi’s hands. Because of this, she has to always have her hands bandaged up to prevent unwilling transformations and the possibility of high blood loss. The process of rebandaging is a tedious process that Akemi has learned to do on her own.
The last correct test was on Akemi’s knee, so removing the bandage will result in her transformation when she’s wearing Juyo. With the final stages of Juyo’s research complete, there was one last step. While Akane continued studying the life fibers, Akemi researched what happened with the Kiryuins. She learned about the school created for training elite students with life fiber-infused uniforms run by the daughter of Ragyo, Satsuki Kiryuin. Akane knew the best way to find out about the future of Ragyo and her connection with life fibers, Akemi would need to infiltrate the school. So Akemi, at the age of 15, set out to Honnoji Academy.
Upon joining the school, she realized the hierarchy very quickly. She knew that if she even wanted to get anywhere close to Satsuki, she would have to rise in the ranks as a part of the student council. She contemplated various club ideas, but she knew creating a club based in the Information and Strategy Committee would give her access to more of the information she wanted. From this, the literature club was created. The club not only enthused about books, but also challenged other schools in tournaments like spelling bees and other events. After the high success Akemi was having with her literature club, she was granted her two-star goku uniform, the Knowledge is Power Uniform. She had finally reached high status within the school, and thus the literature club was also tasked with more important deeds, like handling and organizing information about Honnoji’s plans with life fibers.
One day, however, everything changed when a newcomer entered the scene.
Appearance
Akemi is a shorter girl with a more slender body type, being slightly bustier in her chest and hips. Her hands and right knee are always bandaged with simple white wraps. She has dark magenta eyes that are wide and childlike. Her hair is loosely wavy and reaches right to her chest when straight. The color is a light yellowy green with an underlayer of the same magenta in her eyes. Her hair is typically pulled all in front, with a section covering part of her right eye, and pulled back tightly on the left side.
Her Kamui Juyo has the look of a very basic sailor uniform. It has a short flowy white top with large poofy sleeves, and the skirt is high waisted and pleated. The whole uniform has the same olive green accents, and the large bow is lavender with the same olive tone where Juyo’s eyes are. Her shoes are simple ballet flats in the same lavender color. She transforms by pulling off the wrap around her right knee. When transformed, her outfit becomes similar to a bikini, with the bottoms having hardened pleated frills on the outside resembling the green skirt she wore. Her white top is high-necked and wraps just over her breasts, with a vent on the back and large wing-like objects attached to it. The wings are where the eyes of her kamui are. The top has two purple diamond shapes covering her breasts. She has long white fingerless gloves that reach to her upper arm, with green braces at the ends of both. In the left side of her hair she has two small white and green horn-like clips. She wears pointy purple high heeled shoes. Finally, she wears green eyeshadow.
In her goku uniform, her outfit looks similar to a regular school uniform, with a white sailor-like top with wide long sleeves. It is a short top with a crest of her two-star status on the left breast. It also has a small dark blue tie wrapped under the collar. Her blue skirt is a very wide and short a-line shape, and has a small section of light blue pleats in the front, partially resembling a closed book. Her shoes are simple brown loafers like the other students wear. She has a large brown messenger bag that she uses as a weapon and it holds books that she also attacks with.
Trivia
• The original clubs she thought about creating were literature, astronomy, and volleyball. Literature won out because it would be affiliated with the Information and Strategy Committee.
• The reason she transforms when her bandages are removed is due to a reaction with pure air to her life fiber infused skin. The failed tests on her hands will not result in a normal transformation, as her hands will seep blood and her kamui will take in too much. To replace these bandages, she must not be wearing any clothes and has to slowly layer a new wrap while simultaneously taking the old one off. For the one on her knee, it’s as simple as switching them out while she is transformed.
• She used to be right-handed, however the failed tests were worse on the right, causing her to favor her left thereafter. She is now practically only left-handed.
Relationships
Akane Oshiro
She has a very close relationship with her mother. During her mom’s process of creating the kamui she came to know as Juyo, she insisted the experiments be done on her, since she wanted to further her mother’s research. Akane protested because she did not want to hurt her daughter, however caved to Akemi’s persistence when she realized she had nothing else to experiment on.
Father
Akemi’s father died of natural causes shortly after she was born. Her mother occasionally told stories about him, but Akemi doesn’t know much about him.
Houka Inumuta
Since the literature club is underneath the Information and Strategy Committee, Akemi spent a lot of time around Inumuta. While she never intended to make many relationships at the academy, she couldn’t help but find herself crushing on her superior. They were decently close because the literature club dealt with a lot of the information the committee dealt with. However due to Inumuta’s sarcastic personality Akemi was too afraid to act and left her feelings to a crush.
Satsuki Kiryuin
Akemi was able to rise to the eye of Satsuki thanks to her impressive club results. Satsuki granted Akemi her own two-star goku uniform. They aren’t particularly close, but very occasionally they will have light-hearted discussions about new books they read.
