Wes

Wes might never shut his mouth, but still he manages to reveal very little personal information. He's on a mission of some kind, but keeps what it is and where he's going close to his chest.

[Some Backstory -]

^{Wes spent his youth looking up to his father, a sergeant in the army who drilled high expectations into him. His mother was a veteran as well, discharged due to injuries on duty. He grew up alongside his little sister, Lise. When the cataclysmic nuclear meltdown event occurred, Wes and his entire family were granted express access to the most suitable shelter in the area for safely surviving the radiation; a weapons storage bunker. They stayed for weeks, living with the other military families on preserved rations and meager water supplies. With time, conditions worsened on the outside, but no one understood the extent of the depravity the world had sunken into until a well armed platoon of bloodthirsty raiders and bandits came to the door.}

^{They killed everyone who was armed, overtaking the soldiers with considerable losses. Everyone else was rounded up and contained. Wes's father was killed in the battle, his mother disappeared, and he and his sister were taken into forced custody and put to work digging, cleaning, and operating machinery along with countless other children. A year passed, and they took Lise away somewhere. Two weeks after that, Wes killed someone for the first time, and crawled his way out of the Bunker through a sewer pipe.}

He has a habit of breaking into dark humor in stressful situations and being unable to contain wisecracks even in situations where they're deeply inappropriate.  Wes is emotionally underdeveloped and a little immature, but he has a very strong sense of morals. His conviction is strong to what can be an unhealthy degree,

When he's put into high stress situations, he tends to completely detach from his emotions and go into a state of self preservation. This leads to some people thinking he can be selfish and uncaring, but the truth is, seeing people he loves get hurt traumatizes him on a deep level, and his only way of handling it is to pretend nothing's wrong. Even if they're bleeding out and he's bandaging them up, he'll be laughing about it the whole way.

Wes cares deeply for his family and friends, and carries the blind loyalty that his army father instilled in him as a virtue. Wes currently works as a gun for hire, looking to cover ground across the wastes as he carries out a personal investigation. He's hired on by a small group of young mercenaries looking for an extra hand, and ends up choosing to stay by their sides until he finds a lead.
