Tomi Ichibangase

Tomi was born on February 15, 2003, and is the older sibling to Emiko and Aika. As members of the Ichibangase family, they were all in line to inherit its fashion empire, the brand K1R4, after an older cousin. If an Ichibangase is born with the “ideal” traits – freckles, pink eyes, and fish-like gills – then their standing within the family rises. If an Ichibangase lacks these traits, then they’re treated as “lesser than”. These traits are highly valued in all Ichibangase descendants, and are seen as incredibly beautiful. If an Ichibangase were to take on the family company, then they must have these traits in order to maintain the family image.

Tomi got along with their sisters, somewhat… until Emiko’s eyes started to change. Once they turned yellow, Tomi was encouraged by their parents to start humiliating and shunning her. She deserved it, though – she wasn’t fit to become an heir. They didn’t care if Emi hated them for this, but at the same time, they were paranoid that she’d try to do something to take them out.

The strict hierarchy within the family was instilled in them at a young age, but because Tomi was the second in line, they figured out rather quickly that, unless their older cousin was somehow removed from their spot, that it was unlikely they’d ever inherit the company. Even so, they were raised with the family’s strict values of success no matter what instilled in them. As they grew older, Tomi became jealous of their cousin – if they couldn’t inherit the company, then they were worthless. So, using what their parents taught, Tomi vowed to eliminate their cousin from the line. Tomi knew that their other family members were likely aiming for their spot as well, though, and as such started to become incredibly paranoid.

As they entered high school, their resentment towards their family started to grow. Their paranoia got even worse, to the point where they thought that everyone in their family was out to get them. They were never going to inherit the family company, and they were never going to compare to their cousin, so… they decided to do the next best thing.

They would destroy K1R4’s empire and burn it to the ground.

Not long after they made this declaration to themself, they started planning how to sabotage their other family members – after all, if they weren’t going to lead the company, then no one would. But, soon after this, they were approached by a strange little creature who offered them a boon: a wish for anything in the world, in exchange for their service as a Magi. Being a Magi sounded… exhausting, and they weren’t entirely sold on the idea at first, but… after considering their options, they accepted. Now, they act as a Magi in Mitakihara, though it’s more for the free publicity and attention than anything else. Hey, it gives them an edge over everyone else in their family – who wouldn’t want that?

They have light skin, hot pink almond-shaped eyes, and dark black hair in a wavy, chin-length style. They’re almost always seen wearing a face mask of some kind. They have the signature Ichibangase traits of pink eyes, freckles, and gill-like scars on their neck and torso. Their compulsive hair-picking has caused them to have a bald spot near the nape of their neck. The inside of their mouth is incredibly scarred.

They wear lots of street fashions, especially big baggy pieces with exaggerated silhouettes. They’re particularly fond of anything with fishnets, straps, and tall platform boots. They couldn’t care less about whether their outfits look cohesive, as long as they stand out.

As a Magi, they wear an ornate kimono-esque garment which they’ve shortened to be knee-length. It has different kinds of floral patterns, draping sleeves, and a fur collar. Over it, they wear a matching corset which buckles in the front, as well as wide, flowing pants reminiscent of hakama. They wear black platform boots. Once they transform, unique markings appear on their face much like spider’s eyes, and they wear a black face mask with their soul gem on top.
