A proud aristocrat. 

Her family has been wealthy for many generations, and is considered very powerful. 

When she was due to take over some of the family business, she was told the truth behind what it was. She'd previously believed they were the owners of a successful mining company, but found out her family was very heavily involved in the slave trade with shooters.

She kept her head down and stayed quiet for years, unsure of what to do. When the time came for her to take more responsibility she finally faltered, begging her family to remove themselves from the slave trade. They refused and told her she had to shape up or they'd be sending her to work in the mines like a grunt. She realized she'd never get through to them and with a heavy heart she took what she could and ran. She spent another couple years on the run, her family always hot on her heels. She knew far too much to be allowed to walk free...

They finally caught up to her and planned a step ahead. They set a trap and used a bomb to blow up the building she had been staying in with everyone inside. People from the streets quickly rushed in to help, and a Sweeper named Abraxas dragged her out of the rubble, but her legs had been horribly mangled and needed to be amputated.

She continued to keep in contact with Abraxas, and he helped her get fitted with prosthetic and helped her learn how to use the mismatched legs. Once she could walk, she decided she was tired of always running, and asked him to teach her how to fight, too.
