Haunt

Haunt naturally conveys a coldly intimidating aura, carried by his tall stature and closed-off attitude. Whilst he may seem hard to approach, he’s really just awkward, and struggles with socially reaching out to others. Those who actually get to know him, however, enjoy his chill-going personality and find him fun to hang around. He tends to take what people say at face value. He’s not really naive, he just prefers to adopt a more optimistic view towards others and their motives. If he ends up getting burnt later, that’s on them.

Haunt has suffered from chronic back pain since his younger teen years, and self-medicates with weed on days where it flares up particularly bad, which tends to be more often than not. Whilst not solitary, his is incredibly self-reliant, preferring to grit his teeth and deal with his problems himself than burden others with them. Especially as he doesn’t really trust the concept of stability in life, and feels he has to be prepared to deal with any situation on his own should things go awry. His weariness to accept help also goes the other way, he rarely offers assistance to other people, assuming they’d also feel insulted by this. Although if something is explicitly asked of him, he’s usually happy enough to comply. He can’t deny he enjoys being useful, as he often feels discouraged by his physical limitations.

He’s not very academically smart, and struggled a lot during school, so tends to be rather elitist on the few things he’s actually knowledgeable on. He takes great pride in his horror media obsession, and it’s his favourite thing to talk about. He’s always looking for new films he somehow hasn’t seen yet to watch and examine. He’s not fully aware of it, but he has a great sense for cinema, and can easily discern what makes things work or not. His overall desensitisation can make him rather judgy of those who are much more sensitive to the genre than him, seeing any disdain for horror as a character flaw. Even so, he’s secretly rather jealous due to a general insecurity of being ‘replaceable’, and would get equally as annoyed by anyone on par with him.
