General Background
Valentin is a human worldhopper and a messenger. He came from Airsthea, and often talks about it. His true name still remains a mystery so he used Valentin as a cover name and an alias.
His main job when travelling through many worlds is that he's a messenger. He simply delivers messages and packages to various peoples. He's trusted by many with important information and travels a lot.
Physical Appearance
(For a more semi-realisitc artstyle. I only have chibi art here so I can't convey his appearance accurately) Valentin is described to have shoulder-length black hair and dull greyish blue eyes. He is a tall man standing at 6'8 with wide shoulders and a tough athletic build to him. Valentin wears a pale brownish coat and a brown tartan scarf. He wears a brownish trapper hat with goggles. And of course, he often brings along with him a pouch for his messages. His goggles let him see constellations and stars of faraway worlds, and to help find the closest rift.
Valentin is most often described to be a 30 year old man, though his age changes depending on the world he's in (it depends on the time he spent in that world).
Personality
Despite him often accidentally being intimidating to others, Valentin is a very jolly person who loves talking and is a great listener. He's optimistic, patient, curious, and is just ready to go meet new people and culture. Valentin is a huge pacifist, and is incredibly slow to anger (though please don't anger him). He resorts more to talking and solving things diplomatically rather than violence. He's exactly the type to help grandma cross the road while carrying her groceries
Valentin is sociable and trustworthy. He keeps his promises and he follows his own honor code. Valentin is able to be tasked with discreet information due to this. Valentin has many connections to many people (both important people and commoners). He's also fun around children.
Valentin is sometimes odd. By that I mean he somehow disappears randomly and cannot be traced, then only to reappear again at unexpected times and asks for a favor (and of course, he'd repay that favor). His favors are odd and sometimes lead the person to suspicious places, but is always manageable.
Aside from his shenanigans, Valentin likes talking about his home and the stories he collected through many worlds. He likes listening to stories and telling stories - though rarely ever about himself. Whenever anything about his past is brought up, he dismisses it and talks about another person's past instead. And whenever he's listening to someone talking, he tends to smoke a pipe.
Skills
Because of his time spent travelling, Valentin tends to documents things in his journals and is more organized than Lance. Valentin doesn't have a big ambitious goal, and is just a simple person, so he takes time to learn and know things in more details. He isn't good at magic, and the best thing he can do is create smoke rings and spin them into illusion smoke magic as a party trick.
Valentin is also good at survival skills and remembering paths. But it still remains unknown to why he can vanish into thin air and cannot be tracked, then proceeds to appear at a random time by chance again.
Relationships
Valentin is one of the two closest friend to Lance. He's aware that Lance personally dislikes him, and he's 100% okay with that. To be honest, Valentin just thinks Lance is lonely and distant. They often talk about worldhopping whenever they can, and Valentin is just there to ease the tension whenever Lance insults a noble. However, Valentin is aware Lance has a bigger motive but still hasn't found out what it is. Valentin usually tells Lance to be morally better, Lance always retorts back.
He's also good friends with Reginald (Lance's apprentice). Though Valentin find Regin to be a bit distant (which he relates to Lance) and pushy, he still tries his best to be polite. Regin also often asks when did Valentim gets so tall.
Valentin met Flint once and it's the first and only time - safe to say it wasn't pleasant.
Furthermore, he's also the personal messenger of Alador. Valentin finds him comforting, though Alador is oblivious to Valentin's connections and his background. Plus, Alador gifted Valentin a smoke pipe and taught him a bit about smoke illusion magic.
Trivias
- Valentin is a huge animal lover
- He likes to hang out with children and tell them stories using his illusion magic
- Valentin is incredibly laid back and chuckles happily at every mockery and insults (especially from Lance, Valentin likes his "jokes" lol)
- Whenever in combat and unable to use his reasonings, Valentin usually flees instead of fighting back and uses his surroundings + illusion as distractions. However, whenever he fights back, he fights back hard.
