Personality

Astrid is a well-spoken and stern individual, but underneath all the  professionalism shes very unsure of herself. Most of the reason shes able to be so stubborn is with the silent support of F1ghter, even though shes the one usually being unmoveable.
Shes a very family-driven person at heart.

Story

Astrid spent life up to her early 20s on her original homeplanet, which was a large unique ecosystem containing thousands of humanoid bug species and cultures. She lived in a cold mountainous biome with her relatively isolated community. Its hard to explain the transition, but one moment she was planning on fishing and another she had taken a step into the black space between dimensions. Basically No-clipping out of her original one.
She was one of the extremely lucky ones, appearing in a space ship making its way to a heavily populated area.
Unluckily for her it was for the government dictatorship military.
She scrambled to adapt and form her place in this foreign land less she be cast aside or straight up killed. Astrids always been a quick learner though, and put her skills to use quickly picking up the common language and way things worked.

Astrid took the opportunity that nobody here knew her and transitioned from male to female. The fact her species had no obvious sexual dimorphism besides wing patterns and wing shape helped tremendously. She also ends up hiding her wings with advanced technology later on, finding them cumbersome and attention drawing.

By default of where she appeared she was drafted into the military and by pure luck caught a higher-ups eye, who saw potential in her and pulled strings to get her higher ranked. This was a good idea, because Astrid ended up being a highly skilled strategist and negotiator when taught, always keeping a level head and defending herself vigorously to make up for her small stature and fuzzy species.

Over many years she grows closer to her superior, now her equal, who goes by the name F1ghter. It grows from ‘just friendship’ rapidly. Its a situation of neither are fully ready to admit they’re romantically interested in eachother, and refuse to admit it, but will confide in eachother, sleep together, and be wildly jealous if someone else attempts a move. Its a much needed comfort in the high stress of this world to know you’ll always have someone there for you.

Theres much more, and is a very very long story, but she does end up being able to go home after some switching sides and heart wrenching betrayal of F1ghter. The effects of PTSD and the 20 years of living elsewhere heavily effected her though, and shes never able to fully readjust. Astrid feels isolated from her peers because shes not only changed mentally but physically since then. She carries guilt around like a depressing cloud at all times.

Its a sort of cliffhanger I’ve left her on, and its a WIP, but she will reunite with F1ghter and leave her homeworld once again.
