Ansel
Basics
Synopsis
A man-made creature who calls himself Ansel. He holds no memory of his origin, nor his creator, and instead travels the land at a leisurely pace, stopping in towns and villages to treat illness and injury. Despite his somewhat frightening appearance, Ansel is gentle and softspoken, although his resting expression and tendency towards silence may lend a less favorable first impression.
History
Ansel awoke one day in an empty, dust-filled cottage that stood promptly in the middle of an uninhabited forest. He bore no memory of what had happened prior to waking up, and knew only by the writing embroided into the collar of his shirt that his name was 'Ansel'. Despite his apparent amnesia, however, he harbored an in-depth knowledge of medicine and practical treatments.
Homunculi -- that is, man-made creatures often sporting nonhuman attributes -- are not a new development in biological magicks, however they are rarely encountered independent of their creators due to their rarity and the difficulty involved in one's creation. For one to have been seemingly abandoned, and left to its devices, is ever stranger... or so Ansel believes, at least.
Ansel now travels from place to place in search of both knowledge of himself and of his creator, making use of his medical skills to earn money for the road. A part of him worries if he would ever regret finding the truth, should the day come. But for now, having his chance to enjoy the life of a wanderer is good enough.
Physique
Ansel's physical being is part man and part wolf-like creature. His fur (hair?) is soft and fluffy, although it along with Ansel's bare skin seems to absorb any light that hits it, causing an effect of of a deep, rich darkness that appears utterly absent of any color. He passively releases a soot-like dust from his fur, which has a tendency to stain its surroundings black. Although troublesome when trying to keep things tidy, it doesn't do much more than be a nuisance.
His frame is lanky, with thin and wiry limbs that would make you think he has not eaten anything in weeks... which is true, seeing as Ansel does not eat at all. Ansel's right foot is human, while his left remembles the digitigrade structure of a wolf, which he keeps bandaged in order to prevent staining the ground everywhere he walks. Although both legs are fully functional, the difference in structure and length makes it difficult to walk. Ansel uses a wooden cane to support himself to make up for this.
