A Dungeons and Dragons OC

Past:

Rain was the son of a Genie and an Elf, abandoned before he knew them and raised by merfolk near the coast, He grew up hearing all kinds of stories from the land, collecting instruments and often performing them to others. But the desire to experience these stories first hand eventually pushed him to explore the world beyond his home, promising to return to his family and regale to them the tales he found and made on his journey. He hopes to join up with and follow a party of heroes to experience their daring acts with his own eyes, and to record their valiant adventures.

Rain is good-natured and polite, but has an incredibly naïve and romanticized view of the world. His mind is always full of stories and music - and he will often put his emotions into his lute, playing it absentmindedly as he travels with his party.

He views himself as more of a vessel for telling the stories he enjoys so much, and is perfectly content with that purpose. He is awed and inspired by the heroes he meets, but doesn't particularly see himself as one.

He takes great interest in other people, and Rain is inspired by those who can tell stories vividly. He never feels the need to take treasures from places, or feel sad about saying goodbye, because he has always carried them in his mind - bringing them back to life through stories and songs.

Due to his knowledge of the land being limited to what he has heard from romanticized stories and music, Rain is still naïve and unprepared for the real horrors that adventure can hold. He casts people into roles that he understands, and has a hard time comprehending more complex motives or unceremoniously tragic happenings.

As a water genasi, Rain's hair feels cool and silky like water, and moves somewhat floatily through the air. He uses most of his spells to add effects in his performances; shaping water into knights and dragons, changing its colour into the blood of battle, or forming particles of light. He decorates his clothing with flowers he finds on their adventures, and often scans the sides of paths for plants he hasn't seen before.
