Hazeswirl [Dunstwirbel]

Hazeswirl is a lean she-cat with narrow shoulders and an elegant build. She is smaller than the average she-cat and has short but thin legs that end in round paws with pointed claws and pink pads. Having trained as a warrior she's still rather muscular and knows how to use her claws in battle. Her medium-long fur makes her look a bit bigger and becomes gradually longer on her back, at the tail, and towards her belly. It's usually well-groomed, dense, and soft. It has a silverish gray base color and it is covered with black markings which form a blotched tabby pattern which is a bit more unusual in feral cats and might hint at her kittypet ancestry. Hazeswirl also has white spots with white fur on her face, muzzle, throat, chest, and belly as well as on her four paws. Her heavily furred tail is long and ends in a white tip. She has some scars as reminders of the battles she fought but her thick fur usually covers them up.

The warrior has a round face with elegant features. Her muzzle is short and ends in a pink nose. In addition to this, she has triangular ears which are rounded at the tips. The eyes are wide and have a slightly almond-shaped form. They nearly seem too big for her face and have a yellowish-green color. Hazeswirl's face is rather expressive and might show her impulsive character.

The first thing one might notice about Hazeswirl is the seemingly inexhaustible energy she possesses. She is an energetic cat who always seems to be on their paws and hardly ever stands still, even for a short moment. It's as if she has too much energy which she has to make use of constantly. Having to wait at a spot for too long without doing anything is hardly bearable for her and Hazeswirl might start running up and down or training a fighting move in those situations. The warrior is a life-affirming and fun-loving type of cat, who always finds herself something to do. The option not to do anything doesn't exist in her mind and if it did she would experience it as boring and not relaxing at all. It simply wouldn't be fun. In addition to this Hazeswirl is rather outgoing and sociable with other cats. She likes getting to know new cats and makes friends quickly. In general, she is very talkative and communicative. She likes spending time with her friends laughing together, playing around, going on adventures, or even plainly getting into mischief once in a while. She surrounds herself with other cats all the time, a thing she already did when she was a young kittypet and still does no matter if she is hunting or in camp. She also prefers to fight alongside her friends. However, her friendships tend not to go very deep either. Even when she seems open and is laughing she hardly forms deep connections with her new friends. To be more precise, the warrior struggles to commit to others and the relationships between them. Of course, she wants to have fun with her friends, go on adventures, and face challenges, because that's what matters to her, but she rarely forms a real bond that goes deeper and consists of more than sometimes supporting each other and having fun together. Rather, she leaves others behind when they can no longer follow her or keep her pace (for example, if someone doesn't want to go along with something she wants to do) and then pledges that everyone has to be strong for themselves. She does this, among other things, because closer ties to other cats scare her and she's afraid of losing them. As long as she doesn't turn back to help her friends, she can avoid becoming too closely attached to them, and thus unconsciously hopes to avoid the pain that might result from losing them later. Furthermore, the young she-cat is very erratic in her way of thinking and living. She seems to live only for the present moment and most of the things she does don't have a deeper meaning to her, as long as they are fun or provide the excitement Hazeswirl is looking for in life. She often pushes unpleasant things aside or tries to get other cats to do them for her. However, the warrior is very enthusiastic and once persuaded to do something very motivated to get it done. In those cases being with her can be motivating and inspiring. Most of the time her motivation only lasts until things get unpleasant again, though. And when it seems pointless, Hazeswirl isn't one to just push through either. Standstill is absolute death for the warrior. There is neither excitement nor fun there, and the young she-cat can't stand that at all. Also, due to her erratic nature and impatience, her stamina is often not the best either. If something doesn't work right away, she often gives up because she doesn't feel like doing it anymore and if she's too good at something and she can win easily, it doesn't bring her enough excitement. Her mood is very dependent on the circumstances she is in and can change quickly due to her volatile nature. Hazeswirl is an impatient cat. She can't wait for anything at all and if something doesn't work fast enough she won't like it anyway. She hates not being able to do anything and often gets herself into trouble due to that. All of this makes her a rather inconsistent cat, who often doesn't stand by her decisions or her word (to herself and others).

Hazeswirl is an adventurous and brave she-cat. She talks a lot and brags about her adventures now and then, sometimes even showing a bit of arrogance or acting like a know-it-all. Most of the time it's not all just gibberish though, even if she might be quick to say something thoughtlessly. She is indeed brave, often a little reckless and cocky, which is why she sometimes puts herself or others in danger. Especially when she's bored, she may plunge headfirst into any dangerous or exciting situation that comes her way and seems to promise fun or thrill. She is also a rather attractive and charismatic warrior, who mostly knows how to win over the cats around her. She can be very humorous, which she often uses to lighten up the mood or to convince others of her plans and persuade them to do something. She also likes to have cats by her side, as long as they don't get too close to her. However, as explained above she might drop them or not come back to help them when she's afraid that they might be getting too close, and due to her belief that in the end, everyone has to be able to stand up for themself. This brings us to a more negative character trait of the young she-cat. Hazeswirl is quite irresponsible. She takes as little responsibility as possible and sometimes she just pushes it away. However, that wouldn't be a problem. It becomes more critical when she takes on responsibility and then suddenly drops it. Then she might simply abandon other cats and suddenly become cold towards others. The pain of separation is one of the feelings she simply can no longer express to others, which is why she might suppress her emotions in those situations and instead pushes others away. Back to Hazeswirl's more positive qualities: The young she-cat is very spontaneous and quick to react. She has no problem throwing a plan overboard if a better idea comes to her, or a more experienced cat tells her something she can agree with. She has no problem adjusting to others or reacting to changing circumstances even when things have to happen fast. She is also imaginative and creative, having many ideas and a lot of fantasy. She is not afraid of trying something new, even if it has never been done before, and the justification "We do that because it has always been that way", simply doesn't hold up for her. She is willing to bypass rules to understand their reasoning, or sometimes even simply because it's exciting which can get her in a lot of trouble. The young warrior is also rather playful. This didn't change while getting older since for her it's still fun to just play and mess around. That's why she might act like a big kitten now and then, even when other cats her age might think it's inappropriate. Hazeswirl doesn't really care what most others think of her. She's very individualistic and full of ideas that are waiting to be put into action. Another important character trait would be that the young warrior is very expressive with her emotions. One can usually tell if she's in a good mood or if something made her angry. However, it's sometimes very difficult to classify and explain why this might be the case, since Hazeswirl's mood depends very much on the circumstances and can change within a heartbeat, due to her erratic nature. At least that's what she presents to the outside. Internally, she hangs on to certain negative emotions much longer than she lets it show. It may be that the same hurt is still bothering her, even though she seems to be cheerful and happy again. Some feelings and pain, however, Hazeswirl doesn't show at all, since she doesn't even allow herself to feel them. These include the above-mentioned fear of losing cats close to her and of growing too close to others in the first place. Basically, Hazeswirl acts instinctively and often there are no explainable reasons for her actions (even when it is not just about having fun) even for herself. A lot of processes go on unconsciously and the young warrior is a rather unreflected cat. She lives for the moment and avoids dealing with the past or too negative and scary emotions. In fact, she often just does what she feels like doing, or what she wants to do, without thinking much about it. Hazeswirl also needs a lot of attention. Being ignored is nearly unbearable for the young she-cat and can make her angry quickly. She simply needs her friends and acquaintances around her. Deep inside the young she-cat longs for attention and the knowledge that others care about her. In the end, she's afraid that no one does. Like with other fears, Hazeswirl isn't aware of this but it still guides her. She longs to be noticed and accepted by others, even when she showcases her independence by leaving others behind. Unconsciously, however, she does everything to cover up this fear and usually presents herself to the outside world as if she doesn't care what other cats think about her.

Sometimes Hazeswirl shows an unexpectedly stubborn and narrow-minded side. When she has made up her mind on something she wants to achieve or enforce, and the only cats standing in her way seem to be bores, buzzkills, and cowards, she can become rather unpleasant. Then and especially when she thinks it will bring her more excitement and fun, she can become downright disobedient or rebellious. If something happens due to a lack of responsibility on her part, she usually shifts the blame to others, declaring that everyone has to be strong for themselves and it's not her fault when someone else gets hurt. Most of the time she doesn't take responsibility for her mistakes. She is also eager to discuss things, which can be positive, but might escalate into a full-blown fight with the wrong cats as discussion partners. She can become really aggressive and disrespectful in some cases. The warrior can also be quite irritable if you criticize her or her actions. Hazesiwrl doesn't handle criticism well. Her usual way of dealing with it would be not to accept responsibility by pushing it off or shifting it to someone else. When the young she-cat is bored or lacks excitement dealing with Hazeswirl can become rather challenging as well. Feeling stuck or bored for too long she might start to look for drama or cause quarrels among other cats. If her needs for fun and excitement are not satisfied, she tries to create an interesting situation herself and might become quite manipulative in doing so. Most of the time, however, she is just the happy whirlwind and it doesn't have to come to that.

If you want to tell Hazeswirls story you have to start with the identity of her parents. The young she-cat and her brother were fathered by Skystar the founder and first leader of SkyClan. Sometime after the death of his mate Moonsliver the impressive tom encountered a beautiful she-cat while patrolling at the border between his clan's territory and twolegplace. Scura was a kittypet living in a house with a big garden and he told her to leave SkyClan territory but when she appeared again very soon he couldn't stop himself from falling in love with her. They start to meet up at the edge of SkyClan territory frequently and hoping that she would one day decide to leave her twolegs and join his clan Skystar told her about his life with his clan as well as his position as a leader. But even though Scura loved the impressive tom she also felt love for her twolegs and didn't want to abandon them. They had cared for her during her whole life and she didn't want to worry them by running away. But she wasn't egoistic enough to ask the tom she loved to leave his clan and freedom behind to stay with her in her twoleg nest and garden (she wasn't sure if her twolegs would simply take him in either). She also cared for his clan enough that she didn't want all the cats who relied on him to lose their leader. So one night they finally decided to stop seeing each other. Skystar returned to his clan for good and Scura stayed with her twolegs sharing their house and garden. Still, her relationship with the SkyClan leader had changed a lot for her and soon she realized that she was pregnant with his kittens who would always serve to remind her of their beautiful and handsome father.

Sometime later the kittens were born and since there were only two of them Scuras twolegs decided to keep them for now. The little ones were named Pebbles and Lira and their mother who still loved Skystar too much to take him away from his clan frequently told them stories about their father and his clan, passing on all the things Skystar had described her during their meetings. Especially Lira loved listening to the stories about SkyClan and her father. She admired the brave and handsome leader as well as the forest cats' wild way of living their lives. The desire to become a free cat and live together with others in a forest clan, instead of depending on her twolegs and being locked up in the nest so often, slowly started to grow inside of her. But she wasn't ready to leave yet since her mother and brother were here in a cozy twoleg nest with enough food and water.

When Scura became sick and died of an illness her barely five-moon-old kittens were left behind. The loss of her mother was a heavy blow for Lira, as well as her brother Pebbles, and without Scuras' comfort and her stories the confines of their twoleg nest, quickly became too small for the restless young she-cat. After a while, half out of curiosity, half to escape her pain and the walls where she had lived together with her mother she set out with Pebbles to find and join SkyClan. This adventure soon proved to be more difficult than expected for the two kittens since they had never left their garden before and didn't posses the necessary skills. But when they finally curled up under a bush and fell asleep, exhausted from wandering around, they were indeed found by a group of SkyClan warriors hunting for prey. The grown cats brought the kits back to their camp where they were questioned by Bramblestar SkyClan's new leader and finally given into the care of the queen Wintertail. Lira and Pebbles, who were now named Hazekit and Northkit spent the next moon in the SkyClan nursery together with Wintertail's litter of kittens as well as some other foster kittens. They both used that time well to learn as much as they could about clan life.

Eventually, both of them were made apprentices, and Hazepaw's training was taken on by Sparklefeather. But shortly after she had entered this new stage in her life, however, SkyClan was attacked by BloodClan and her mentor suffered severe injuries in battle. The young warrior had to spend the next moons in the medicine cat's den and Hazepaws training was temporarily taken over by her Fogheart who trained her together with her foster brother Echopaw. The hesitant manner of the other apprentice and Hazepaw's spontaneous and more volatile nature lead them both to dislike each other fast. However, during this time Dustpaw also got closer to Rainpaw, Echopaw's brother and apprentice of Tearheart, who turned out quite interesting in contrast to his brother. Hazepaw's further training turned out to be quite difficult. She often clashed with her mentor and since Sparklefeather was too quiet and insecure to earn her apprentice's respect the young she-cat soon viewed her as incompetent and often disobeyed her commands. Growing closer to Dustpaw another apprentice who had fallen in love with her and had a quite difficult relationship with his own mentor as well didn't help much. Hazepaw herself didn't acknowledge that he had feelings for her at that time. Instead, she felt a pull towards Rainpaw. She just wanted to be close to the medicine cat apprentice and since he seemed interesting and they started to spend more time together.

She was made a warrior by Bramblestar who named her Hazeswirl while her brother was given the name Northstrike. Her good performance soon lead to the leader giving her an apprentice of her own. Palepaw wasn't the most active tom which soon lead to tension between the young warrior and her apprentice. Hazeswirl really disliked his laziness and unwillingness to learn. It was at this time that the young warrior became friends with Mapleleaf the daughter Bramblestar and mother of Palepaw. SkyClans deputy Wildfire dying to save Palepaw in a battle against a fox temporarily stopped the training lessons but Hazeswirl and the rest of the patrol, fortunately, managed to drive the enemy off SkyClan territory.

When Bramblestar choose to resign he made space for his daughter as a leader of SkyClan. Maplestar who wanted to run things differently and carve a new way for her clan decided to make Hazeswirl deputy of the clan which the young she-cat happily accepted. Not that she liked taking on a lot of responsibility but everything being new and fun was incentive enough for her. She was distracted by Rainpaw - now Raincloud - though. By now they had often spent time together, played, messed around, hunted, or gathered herbs and the gray tom seemed to have feelings for Hazepaw. Some sort of intimate relationship developed between them breaking part of the healers' code which prohibited Raincloud to have a mate. But Hazeswirl didn't care much about rules like that. She just wanted to have some fun with the gray tom. Their relationship wasn't well received by Echobreeze when he found out about it which reinforced the she-cat's dislike for the rigid and boring tom who tried to break her and his brother apart. She didn't see why he or his opinion should matter in any way when she wanted to have fun with Raincloud.
