A Faun who strives to become a powerful warrior. He puts great expectations on himself, and assumes most things to be a challenge.
Past:
As the son of Oakheart, one of the strongest and most respected warriors in his tribe, Twig was desperate to live up to the father he admired. And though Oakheart supported him unconditionally, Twig was a runt among those his age and burdened by his feelings of inferiority.
Unlike his loud and cheerful father, Twig was irritable and short tempered. But he always worked hard to try and follow in his footsteps, dreaming of when his horns would also be covered in the carvings of his experiences.
However, one day a group of Gnolls raided their village. They killed and broke off the warrior's horns as trophies, and among those who died was Oakheart. One of those horns had been taken by the Gnolls, and the one that remained was given to Twig. Unable to believe his hero could fall, Twig did not grieve as much as he swore to retrieve the one that was taken, and continue to grow strong.
Fashioning the broken horn into a hammer, Twig left his tribe to prove himself and retrieve what had been taken. The hammer serves as a reminder of the shoes he has left to fill, and for Twig, makes him feel as though his father is travelling alongside him.
Present:
As a Cleric, Twig wields a green flame from within his weapon's carvings. He is in tune with Oakheart and his ancestors, believing they continue to watch over and give him their strength. He carves pieces of wood to record his adventures, with the intent for them to be carved into his own horns one day.
Travelling with a party is a new experience for him, and he often takes things as a challenge even when they aren't - which has landed him in several dangerous or undesirable situations. He finds it difficult to open up to the rest of the party, and especially in the beginning is riled up easily. (Warning: loud)
He will often rush in to fight rather than aid his teammates. But in a pinch he has shown to be cooperative and ferociously supports his allies to triumph in the nick of time. Twig learns that he can find strength in others this way, and slowly mellows out more. Although his father was often called "The one man army", Twig realises that Oakheart also had the admiration of their tribe because he was someone everyone simply enjoyed being around.
Future:
The Gnoll who had taken Oakheart's other horn is the malicious leader of a group of Brigands, who himself also fashioned it into a double headed axe. Once Twig runs into him, the two become deadly rivals. Twig swears to prove his strength and kill the brutish Gnoll, and take his fangs to even the score.
Class Swap AUs [Wizard - Rogue - Bard]
Wizard
As a Wizard, Twig did not let go of his desire to prove himself, but sought new methods after accepting that he would never be as physically strong as he wanted to be. Because of this, he turned to research and learning. His inferiority complex makes him easily-frustrated with this process, but always willing to try until he achieves it. He hopes to one day use his magic to speak with his father again.
He keeps his father's horn on his desk where he studies.
Rogue
As a Rogue, Twig is utterly obsessed with getting revenge. He vows to hunt down the Gnoll Leader who killed his father, and take his fangs in exchange for Oakheart's horn.
He carries a small piece of Oakheart's horn, which he wears around his neck.
Bard
Upon leaving his home, Twig came to terms with his feelings and focused on starting his life anew. He uses his carving skill to help him fashion new instruments, and focuses on honoring and retelling the stories of his ancestors through music. He hasn't lost his sharp attitude, but his music at least is pleasant.
He carries his father's horn with him, which has been hollowed out into an instrument.
