The origin of the Shakarii is unknown, though they have existed as long as heaven and hell. As a human dies, their soul is exposed for a short period of time, in which a reaper would normally send it to heaven or hell. Instead, Shakarii use this brief moment to snatch the soul away and either consume it or turn it into one of their own. They’re very docile creatures towards humans, usually keeping their distance, but to their own can be very hostile. Shakarii do not mate, nor do they usually group together. In many instances, Shakarii will fight one another.

About
Azir was once a very fierce hunter and raider until he got into a fight with another Shakarri who damaged Azir's eye sight. The Gashes in his mask are the wounds inflicted on from the other Shakarri. Azir now tends to be very loud and clumsy now that his eyesight has been damaged. He uses the jiggly ringlets on his ears to hear throughout the forest area where he slumbers and hoards his treasures. He tends to steal from other Shakarri which is very very very very dangerous. He tiptoes in with his ringlets around his nose and his mouth open so he doesn't alert the other Shakarri and takes all the valuables it can before he can get noticed. His tongue usually flaps in the wind behind him as he runs on his two feet rather than all fours. Most of the time you will see him sleeping in the trees or on the ground doesn't really matter but the one thing that never changes is that he uses his fluff ball tail as a pillow and cuddle buddy. It can also be a weapon; imagine a boxing glove. He must eat souls to survive, and to get these he normally feasts on humans that go on hikes or are lost.

Before Azir became a Shakarii he was just your average everyday man, went to work on time, went out with co-workers, and even called his mother every other day just to check in on her. Well one night he was heading home from a business outing with a couple buddies from work, he was indeed heavily intoxicated. He was stumbling around at unreasonable hours of the night, and walked down a road he normally would never take. It lead to an open forest where it was slightly ominous you couldn't see too far into the forest and you could not hear a peep out of the forest. As Azir stumbled along the road he got very very nauseous and ended up running to the nearest tree outside the forest to relieve his stomach. After doing so he heard a voice, this voice was a whimpering yet distress sounding voice. Azir being the nice man he was and curious none the less, wandered into the forest. Once into the forest he couldn't find his way back out, each tree in every direction started to look the same. Azir started to panic screaming frantically and running through the forest. Suddenly hearing that noise of the whimper soon became a snarl that shocked Azir to the bone. As he stood there face to face with a Shakarri he tried not to move or show any signs of fear. The Shakarri walked around Azir as if he was sniffing his food before eating it. The Shakarri sat before Azir and picked him up without a struggle. Azir put a hand on the creatures mask as if petting him and trying to attempt to maybe befriend the creature.  The Shakarri had other plans, he slowly lifted the mask, basically opening his mouth revealing all of it's teeth and long black tongue. Azir knew what was going to happen and all he could do was hope that it would be fast. The Shakarri dug its claws into Azir, once dead stole his soul and held on to it. The Shakarri feasted on Azir's human form and took off before the new Shakarri, Azir, could attack it. Thus Azir became a Shakarri and had no memory of his past life or the Shakarri that killed him.
