Ken'chi since a young age has always been best friends with Sho'sa, he did not care much for school but would ask Sho'sa for help with his homework even though he never paid enough attention to learn the material himself. In school Ken'chi prided himself on being the center of attention in school, if he had an opportunity he'd make a small scene to bring attention to himself. His family were not as well off as Sho'sa's birth family financially but they were not poor.

After the fire at Sho'sa's home Ken'chi brought Sho'sa home with him telling his parents of what happened and what the officials had said. They decided to let Sho'sa live with them and they would work at adopting Sho'sa so he had a family. 

Now adays the brother's live together in their own apartment while Ken'chi works at a local Convenience Store
