You don't need to know or use the lore or use this naming way in order to make an aardfisk, this is just optional stuff I've come up with for the species. You are free to make your own lore for them if you want to fit them into your world/story.

People are also free so suggest lore and ideas to add to this page!

Aardfisk are an adaptive species that can live in many environments and in many warying lifestyles.

Their prehensile feet, gills, exrta limbs, antennae and ability to walk both upright and on all fours make them able to live in both the wild and in cities. Most aardfisk tend to live in nature in forests close to water, as this is the environment they are most adapted to.

Mangroves, rainforests, swamps and similar places. Because climbing trees and swimming is what they are the best at and often feel the most comfortable with.

Many aardfisk are solitary or live in small groups. They often don't have a "house" or any specific place they call home, they choose to live in a general area or to wander. Their pouch is used to carry their belongings and their extra limbs and prehensile feet are good at gathering and holding objects both in and out of water.

Their antennae are extendable and retractable and they often have unique properties for each induvidual. Often they are used to feel vibrations or smell but there are no limit to what ability they can give the aardfisk, some can hear radio signals with them and some even do a little magic, but some have no ability at all.

Aardfisk naming conventions may be different from group to group, but there is one that is traditionaly the most common. They are not given a name when they are born but once they are old enough to speak they are asked what they like most/what they want their "first" name to be. The first name is most often an noun, a thing. The child is asked what they like most, this is to make the child feel like themselves, it's their choice of first name. Their "second" name is chosen by another later in life often when they are seen as becoming an adult. It is most often an adjective something that describes them or how other people see them. So their full name is a combination of how one sees themselves and of how other people see them.

So there are many aardfisk names that are "standard" like how Michael is in America or Ivan is in Russia, names like Burning Fire, Flowing Water and Sunny Sky are some. There are cases where an aardfisk asks a friend to give them a specific second name, other times the names come out sounding weird either because the kid chose a weird first name or because whoever gave their second name thought they where being funny or where just crule. Names like; High Horse, Exploding Frog, Free Gun, Train Hopper, Boring Rainbow, Wise Fridge and even Hamburger Helper.

But these names are good for understanding someone quickly, if you ask their name you learn both how they see themself and how others see them. A neat little package of an introduction with only ones name, you already learn a bit about them by their name alone.
