HISTORY

Adderbite's start to life is simple enough. He was the youngest born in a litter of three to two doting and overprotective parents. His parents named him Adder, after his appearance. He could never remember his brother's names, but he believed that they were named Claw and Flint. But as he grew, his parents were quick to figure out their youngest's deep-seated anger. Oftentimes, their kit would explode at them for no reason and then would run away. He had the habit of striking his siblings with no provocation. No matter what they did, they could not sate his rage. Eventually, Adderbite and his father got into a massive argument that resulted in him leaving permanently.

He spent most of his kithood on his own, taking care of himself by scavenging meager scraps of food. Oftentimes, he had to fight other cats for said scraps. He didn't dare risk returning home, despite regretting his actions, since he knew that his family would not be safe from his explosive temper. It was only a matter of time before he snapped at them. No. He needed a place that could not only channel his anger, but would accept and understand him. A place that would actually put his anger to good use.

That place, as he soon learned, was none other than ShadowClan. As the Clan is known for having 'chilled hearts', he felt there was no better place for him. Surely, they would accept him for his explosive temper. They gave him a feeling of purpose and it was there that he gained his Warrior name. They taught him how to better use his explosive temper - which was on the battlefield. But it was not all roses and sunshine for the tom. It wasn't long before he found himself in trouble. One day, while he was out hunting, he came across a beautiful golden tabby loner.

He insists, to this very day, that it was an accident. He had not meant to fall for her. He had not meant to have kits with her. This lack in judgment is what haunts him. What makes him so nervous about his position in the Clan. What would his Clanmates think, to learn that the volatile, yet proud and loyal tom-cat, had a liaison with an outsider? He cut off all ties with her and his kits, yet another thing that Adderbite regrets to this very day. He promised himself, because of this, that he would never accept another she-cat as a mate. Neither inside of his Clan and especially outside of it.

For many moons, he served ShadowClan happily. Until, on one fateful day, his temper returned in full force. He was angry when a Clanmate caused him to lose his prey. Without thinking, he attacked them, and severely injured them. Filled with regret, and disgust, he decided to leave ShadowClan. He didn't even dare to defend himself to his leader or the deputy. He was too ashamed of what he had done. He decided that it was time to return to his loner roots, where he wouldn't potentially harm anyone.

He found himself a nice den made of logs, where he decided to establish his territory. That was where he stayed, dealing with what loners normally had to deal with. There were many times, especially during Leaf-bare, that he would fall ill. Fortunately, there was catmint that grew right beside his log den. He didn't know what they were, but he didn't feel that they were dangerous, so he'd eat them whenever he was feeling sick. He was fiercely territorial, as he didn't want anyone getting close to him.

Before long, the loner found himself an elder. On one fateful day, the old cat discovered someone trespassing on his territory. He attacked her, but he couldn't bring himself to seriously wound her. The young cat, known as Magpie, proceeded to ask him questions. He informed her of ShadowClan, and his time living there, making the young cat curious. Feeling merciful, he allowed her to leave, without even having told her his name.
