STORY 

Backstory

JC was born into a loving family consisting of two moms, and grew up safe and sound in their household. Since both mothers have to work to make it through the month, JC doesn't have much time with them, but since this is how it has always been, it's not that big of a deal.

JC first met Kevin in high school, and didn't really think much about him until she had a Chelsea day and got super dysphoric about the stubble along her chin that just couldn't be ignored or overlooked. Miserable and crying in the comfort of the boy's bathroom, she suddenly found Kevin comforting her and even going out of his way to contact his mom to come by and bring a shaver, followed by Kevin helping Chelsea get rid of that last bit of stubble and suggest the thing with the earrings to her.
Since then, the two were fast friends, followed by JC being introduced to Elliot and Nancy, who took him/her in immediately as well and accepted the genderfluidity in the blink of an eye. Kevin coined the nickname 'JC' to prevent misgendering, and that's just how it was since then, and JC was never happier.

It was also thanks to Kevin that JC became comfortable enough to talk about his/her superpowers, which led to the revelation that Kevin&Co were actually also a superhero group, and Kevin was actually the rather well-known hero 'Chance'. Since then, JC has gotten a new name (Core) and joined the group, which led to a lot less destruction and accidents, and a lot more effectiveness and success.
Later, Alice aka Charmer joins the friend and superhero group, and JC feels like finally, everything is coming together and like this could be just the life he/she would have never thought to have but deeply enjoy, all the same.

Now, if only there wasn't Kevin's (or rather, Chance's) apparent arch nemesis, The Tinker. That guy seems pretty bad, and totally Chance's bane of existence, but JC also can't shake the feeling that they don't know everything of the story. After all, Tinker has once saved JC's life and nearly lost his own in the process, so the guy can't be all THAT bad....right?
But if he's not bad....what is he?

Superhero "Core"

As Core, JC has a special outfit that is more mecha than suit, which also makes a definite gendering impossible. the media still is at odds because of that and there are lots of debates, but Core doesn't say anything to it, and the voice is changed anyways for protection.
Core has slight earth manipulation powers but very rarely uses those because he/she can't control them very well yet. Next to that, Core has minor healing abilities that usually are used to patch the team back up.
Other than that, Core has incredible strength, enhanced by the suit, and would be a great tank, but JC hates violence and fighting and is usually all for the diplomatic approach and forgiveness and avoiding battle.

Still, if friends are in danger or hurt, Core WILL destroy the enemy without hesitation. That's just how it is.
