familiar - black swan (Cygnus atratus), named velho
finnish woodwife, was born to farmers; is about 24??
Truth: To love is to place your neck to someone else's blade, and trust them not to press harder.
she's very good at runework, but is terrible with talismans and has a hard time maintaining spells. focuses her magic with song, and generally handles anything that needs to be sung to work with ease. basically all of her magic has a sung componant, as a result.
highly flirtatious and socialable, but lives alone; no one really wants to be the person who shacked up with the crazy witch-woman with a rather vicious black(!!!!) swan, and other places need their woodwife enough that she's not willing to poach out of loneliness. quite kind and willing to help those who need it, but has a vicious bite when she or her people are wronged.
velho is a waterbird and thus a Huge Asshole. look, being super-intelligent didn't make him less of a swan and 90% of the time kirsikka doesn't care because it weeds out the creeps. velho tends to give aino a hard time at first, but mostly because he's a one-person swan and aino is New and thus Untrusted. he warms up to them eventually... especially once impi arrives and starts sassing him back.
has an on/off apprentice by name of aino; aino is nb (though lacks the language for it, because 1800s Europe; ) and like 10, but can't visit for teaching much due to their family situation. kirsikka is aware of this and does her best to help them, but she's limited in what she can do at first. later, she and aino (with aino's mother's blessing) run off and become wanderers as aino's father becomes more violent toward them.
her late master was actually pagan; she's not, but a lot of how she practices has a pagan flair because of it.
