Ethan is your typical nerd. Although seen as attractive he is a bit of an outcast, not having many skills. He prefers to stay in his friend group consisting of him and two other friends.
His mother is away most of the time so he's usually home alone with his dog. His father died to 'suspicious circumstances' when he was 16.
He then meets Graymore, a man who claims to be a friend of his father, and his life is turned upside down; possibly forever. His comforts and ideals are challenged and he has to push past them to continue his father's legacy.
Sometime down the line in his training, Ethan realizes he's progressing much more slowly than what would be useful or helpful. So he makes a harrowing decision to abandon his life in the human realm to fully embrace the magic realm. He agrees to have a curse placed on him that transforms him into a monster human hybrid. The monster being a lemoa, which are a race of magic-wielding monsters. Their strong magic makes his training go by a lot faster.
