Champion Rishloo's Links
Wicke is Riff's little sister, and she's just begun a journey of her own. Riff's pretty excited to see what sort of trainer she'll turn out to be, and hopefully she'll be able to give her a challenging battle! But either way, they're pretty close, and Riff is very proud of her.
Rishloo is Wicke's older sister and the current Champion of the region. Wicke has always looked up to Riff for one reason or another, and her current status is just another one to add to the list. She wants to do her proud and be strong enough to challenge her someday-- /really/ challenge her and to make her sweat a little!
It would be easy for Wicke to feel insecure and overshadowed by her sister's success. Sometimes she worries about not being able to measure up, but Riff believes in her, so Wicke focuses more on proving her right.
Porfirio is a lot like Riff in terms of taste, so out on the fringes that neither can really understand things that are popular. She thinks he's pretty rad, even if he doesn't have the same sense of glam that she does. They're also both pretty young for their positions, so she likes hanging around him.
Porfirio would count the Champion as a friend. He knows some of the others don't like her much, but they only form that on surface observations, he thinks. She's strange, and out there, and he likes that that's the person that ended up as the Champion.
Atler's not very talkative, Rishloo thinks, but she didn't make champion by being judgmental! He's a powerful trainer in his own right, and has definitely earned his spot, and that, at least, she can respect without issue. Still, something about the guy rubs her the wrong way. She's just not sure what. Maybe it's just that he's cold and she hates to feel like she's disappointing the crowd.
The Champion is peculiar, in a way that Atler might have otherwise sought to make use of. But, she's in the way. Atler appreciates a strong opponent though, and has shown Rishloo as much respect as he can manage. He knows he's not strong enough alone to dethrone her.
Haken is Riff's right-hand man and a very important part of the band! She's been with Riff the longest, and a lot of her strategy is built around her. Loves her a lot, even if her hugs get a little zappy.
Haken loves Riff and trusts her deeply. She thinks she's amazing, powerful as well as truly kind, and the stylishness doesn't hurt. Haken is very, very happy with her life here.
Admittedly, VOLA is still just a touch out of Riff's control. Sure, she'll listen in a tough battle, but if it gets too easy she's liable to start trying to provoke a better fight, and that's saying nothing of the trouble she gets up to in her downtime. Which then comes back to bite Riff. She loves the little gal, but she gets Riff hit with a few more extra bills than she'd like.
VOLA thinks Riff's way too goodie two-shoes for a rockstar. But she's a damn good trainer, and with the ambition to get to Champion, she's clearly got the power to show for it. Where else will VOLA find better fights than in the Champion's arena?
Twelve is a big teddy bear when it comes to Riff and the team! Riff is very lenient with her, seemingly blind to the fact that Twelve is nice to *only* their team, and very aggressive with strangers. She spoils her quite a bit.
Riff is Twelve's leader who has her undying loyalty. If anything happened to her or any of the others she'd kill everyone in this room and then herself.
Leprous is extremely intelligent, to the point where he might have been the easiest to train out of all Riff's pokemon. He actually helps her strategize during training sessions. Such a sweet little guy!
Despite her showboating, Riff is in fact very sharp. She has a wit and sense for battle to match Leprous' own, and in fact has plenty of innovative solutions to furthering each team member's training. Leprous genuinely admires her. The cooing and fawning is a little nice, too, even if he'd never deign to admit it.
NC's Riff's opener, precisely because they're very adaptive! They're great at making reads and thinking on their feet, sometimes even taking strategies from their opponents and turning it against them. They're a tough foe, and perfect for letting challenges know the rock-n-roll hell they're in for! Also, they're a natural at making foley. She's very proud of them.
Native Construct's trainer is the epitome of cool, and they're extremely proud to be her opener. Even though they're not the ace, sometimes they're the only pokemon of the team a challenger will see, and it feels nice to be the gatekeeper. Also, it's really fun producing music with her!
Tysy is very measured, considerate, and responsible, and often acts as Riff's helper when it comes to keeping the team in check. They're very meticulous and disciplined, their self-discipline keeping them at the top of their game always. They enjoy letting Riff ride on them, even now that she's a full-grown adult. A big ol' softie!
Tysy does not care if Riff is full-grown for a human, she is their baby and they're very affectionate with her. They often express this through acts of service.
Jess is a woman that has Riff's respect, even if she gets the impression it's one-sided. She's very accomplished, having a such a full life that being a member of the Elite Four registers as just a side hustle for her! Now that's metal. And hey, she doesn't mind too much that the other woman doesn't seem to like her, she's not for everyone.
Jess doesn't like the Champion all that much. She's arrogant and impolite, and Jess doesn't feel she's a very good role model for aspiring young trainers. She tries to be polite with her, but she's just... a little too much.
The old man was someone Riff met on her initial pokemon adventure, when she was a kid. She learned a lot about becoming a better trainer back then, and part of that was by training with this weirdly powerful photographer. Turns out he's a former gym leader! She still tries to make time to catch up whenever she sees him at events.
Riff is a kid after Damian's own heart. They met when she was a youngster on her Pokemon Journey and he had recently stepped down from the Spikemuth Gym. She surprised him with how strong she was, and he wound up teaching her along the way. She's loud, rebellious, and has all the skill in the world to go as far as she wants. And she has, given that she's now the region's Champion! Damian didn't teach her all of his tricks, but let slip more than he meant to. She reminded him a lot of his own kids, who are now Gym Leaders in their own rights, and he got rather attached. She's one of his favorite subjects at formal events because she's the most willing to break out an unusual pose!
