Overview

Sol is the God of the Sun and the co-creator of the solar system. Along with their sibling Lune, they created everything from the smallest organism to the very planets their creations walk on. They are ambitious and powerful, with a seemingly endless supply of energy they draw from the sun. Their emotions are intense and they can be easy to anger, as well as say things that easily disturb others.

Their role in the lives of the mortals and Gods they've made is as a divine leader. They want to be worshipped and recognized for their power. Their physical involvement with the mortals is low but the Gods they've made regard them as a parental figure. Though Sol does not want to admit it, he does depend on the Gods and mortals to strengthen his power.

This is my world. It is my right to do as I wish and rule how I please. Who are you to tell me otherwise?

Demeanor

Ruling Style

Sol wishes to be honored through statues and art. They want their image to be obvious and supreme in the lives of his worshippers. There are many temples for them in the many cities they helped cultivate. They also take offerings from these temples and shrines, though they break them down to their basic components to make new things from them.

Communication skills

They have a way of talking down to anyone they speak to. Lune is the exception to this since they are siblings. To his Gods, Sol speaks to them as though they are children while the mortals are given demands to complete. Internally, Sol thinks very few are worthy of the gifts of life and prosperity he gives the mortals.

Overall personality

Sol is rude and thinks of most of their creations as toys. He mingles with them little to none and instead likes to watch them worship him from far away. They find joy and purpose in feeling powerful. To his Gods, he used to play house with them but cares little for their well being when they get in the way of Sol's goals.

Sol is selfish and will always put what they want above others. They feel no remorse for the suffering they cause to others. Mortal's lives are so short, he feels like he can blink and they are gone. The only familial connection they respect is between them and Lune. They are also incredibly stubborn. Their will is an eternal flame that nothing can douse. They do not share the spotlight with anyone and asking for help is as rare as a mortal gaining Sol's favor.

When he was younger, Sol was more accepting of Lune as his counterpart but as they've grown, Sol finds his power to be the better of the two. That is just a cover for how insecure they feel with how creative Lune is with the things they make. The making of mortals is an especially sore subject for Sol and the only reason Sol has interest in them is the power they give from worship. He wishes Lune would bow down to him and admit that Sol is the better of the two.

Creation

  • Sol and Lune came from the same star.
  • They built their first planet around the brightest, bluest star they could find.
  • Sol's endurance is something that's been built from the quantity of things they've made while Lune focuses more on quality.
  • Sol and Lune gain power when their Gods recieve power from the mortals' worship.

Sol was created in the center of a star. In a bright burst of gasses and plasma, Sol emerged. It is unknown who set forth this chain reaction but that didn't stop Sol from figuring out his powers soon after his birth. It took thousands of years of experimentation with their powers alongside their sibling Lune before the two learned how to make a planet. During this time came the discovery that their untamable magic and power warped their appearance with continued use. After their first planet it wasn’t long before both siblings were making their own planets until they had solar systems. Sol created the most planets as making the basis was what they enjoyed the most. He felt a rush of supremacy and pride at mastering the creation of the biggest challenge the siblings had come across so far.

Eventually Sol also became interested in the smaller details of making planets, such as mountains, oceans, formations of land, and eventually life. Sol figured out plants and simple organisms first but it was Lune who created the first thinking animal. Not long after this discovery, Sol and Lune returned to their first planet and worked together to improve it. Plants, animals, and the first Gods were created. Again, their work split apart with Sol making as many things as they could. He populated most of the planet with small variations to the things the siblings had already made.

Meanwhile, Lune was creating their most complex creation yet, mortals. The craft of making such intelligent, self-sustaining creatures like mortals was something that took many years for Sol to master. It was Sol who discovered their potential as a power source though. The mortals generated their own energy since they didn’t depend on Sol or Lune for their longer lives and were able to perform small feats of magic. With their adoration of the siblings and their Gods came an influx of power, which Sol set to taking advantage of quickly.

The War and the Promise

  • Sol was made with a burning passion that they didn't know how to handle.
  • Everlasting days made the mortals pray to Sol to relieve their droughts and renew their crops.
  • Lune admitted Sol's superiority to trick them into lowering their guard so Lune could chain them.
  • After Sol left the planet, Lune made Divinity to try and take their place as well as heal the warped Gods.

All through their existence, Sol had been competitive with their sibling. He always tried to be faster, to make more than Lune. The creation of mortals should have been a time of celebration for the siblings but Sol’s jealousy and inferiority consumed them. After years of trying to prove their superiority and falling short to Lune’s patience and creativity, Sol created Gods to torment their planet and the precious mortals on it. Lune found this unacceptable as Sol became cruel instead of indifferent. Lune made their own Gods to combat Sol’s and enforce balance. On one of his planets, Sol created more Gods to directly fight Lune’s and so began the war between the siblings.

Compared to the rest of their lives, the war was fairly short but had devastating consequences. Each God the siblings had made drew power and life from them and so as they were struck down or warped by direct contact with the siblings’ power, the pain of the loss struck Sol and Lune’s very essence. The pain of loss fuelled Sol but wore down Lune, both physically and emotionally. Sol was determined to instill their image in everything the siblings had made, including creating everlasting days so they could draw more power from the sun. He wanted to be superior even at the cost of everything the siblings had made.

Lune saw this and so relented to her sibling, admitting their power was great and all they had wouldn't exist without Sol’s seemingly endless energy. Sol paraded these words to the Gods and mortals until Lune chained them. She could have kept them there forever but instead bound Sol to an eternal promise to never start a war like this again. Sol took years to agree to the contract and when they did, Lune broke the chains. The cuffs stayed to link Sol to their contract and to ensure Sol followed the promise, they would meet off-world to renew it, causing a solar eclipse on their planet.

The Aftermath

  • Sol's new planet has a lot less magic and relies more on technology.
  • Sol still collects power from the siblings' first world but it is watered down as he shares it with Divinity.
  • Formerly, Sol was fond of their Gods like a child with a new pet, but sees Gods as tools now.

Sol left the planet, going to another they’d made in the solar system. Here he licked his wounds and created a new world, with mortals and plants made in his image. New Gods were not made here as Sol took the position of the only divine force. Instead Sol made angels who are blessed with certain powers that extend their lives and give them wings. They cannot make new angels though and are far less powerful than gods. Sol was rarely present in Mornous, his new planet, so he could make his presence more noteworthy to the mortals. No contact was made between the siblings for centuries.

On Mornous in the modern day, Sol has grown furious with the mortals. They have begun developing life of their own which Sol takes as an insult since creating new creatures is a power only meant for them and who they choose. They make their first appearance in centuries to the mortals of Mornous and declare that they shall restart the planet for this insult. This kickstarts Sol using so much power that Lune questions them, marking their first interaction in eons . . .

Creating anyting, especially life takes a deep rooted concentration of the building blocks of life. To manipulate these tiny objects and reassemble them takes an infinite amount of energy and power. It is a skill of the mind and body that Sol has taken thousands of years to master. Now they can create anything they set their mind too.

Sol creates and designs their weapons using their own hands and magic. There are no other tools he needs. The design is formed in his mind and manipulated in whatever material they have chosen to form the weapon from.

Sol's body is incredibly regenerative. Even if the whole thing were vaporized it would reform on its own through the energy that powers them. This means they do not need any outside sustenance and can easily survive without the atmosphere their creations need. It is a natural state of being and takes no additional energy unless Sol is regenerating their body completely.

The sibling of Sol. Lune is the only being that Sol respects as an equal. They do not show each other affection in the way mortal siblings do. The most they would do is share information about their advancements.

There is something about how calm and collected Lune is that enrages Sol so they spend a lot less time together. In recent years, the two hardly see each other at all.

Divinity was made to replace Sol after the war and creation of the Promise. Since Sol was gone the mortals needed someone to turn to and so Lune made Divinity out of warped Gods from the war.

Sol hates that they were replaced by what is essentially a mindless animal. Sharing their worship with Divinity is a high insult but they do not try to take their place back from Divinity.

Celeste was Sol's attempt to make a new Lune. He was supposed to be something akin to Divinity but Sol wasn't skilled enough to make something like that. This made Celeste less powerful than Divinity and Lune as well as being warped.

Celeste is a reminder of Sol's failure. Sol feels shame at Celeste's failure and blames him mostly for not being what Sol wanted. He left Celeste on Incanten.
