|| History ||

Khaleel comes from a long line of distinguinshed sultans who have ruled over Ajayib fairly and wisely for generations, bringing prosperity and making the City of Wonders into what it is today, the largest kingdom of Aquabia with plentiful resources. Since the age of Khaleel's great grandfather, the last of the Colossal Squids, the sultans of Ajayib have always shrunk away from direct conflict, choosing more diplomatic means to achieve peace and stability, and for that same reason they have never invested much on the kingdom's military force.

Khaleel's father's ruling was rather lax though, allowing prostitution and illegal gambling rings to grow and take roots in Ajayib's underworld, the City of Wonders became also the city of forbidden pleasures attracting visitors from all around. Khaleel's father loved to bet and gamble and spent great fortunes with this unhealthy addiction. It was never clear what happened, but one day his father left with his royal convoy for a diplomatic meeting and mysteriously disappeared. Rumors said Qudra's royal family, known for their corrupt ways, might have been involved and were to blame when the meeting took place in their territory. But it was all just worthless gossip, nothing had been proved.

Despite his young age, Khaleel was the direct heir and so he became sultan in his father's place. Having been sultan for not very long, Khaleel might be inexperienced and immature, but he's in no way naive or innocent, although he can play the part very well. Educated and instructed since he was a little kid, Khaleel is exceptionally smart and always showed great interest in politics. He keeps up a facade, and often acts irresponsibly like his father did, but it's all just an act. Deep down, he wants to fix what his father messed up, and he suspects there might be someone plotting against the royal family of Ajayib.

He was tutored in manners and etiquette by Sinan since he was a kid, he came to trust him. He made him his general, which everyone judged to be nothing more than a capricious whim of his. Although Sinan had come from a noble family, he was in no way the best suited for the position after all. Khaleel's still young though and as such doesn't have much respect or authority yet. Some even consider him to be a political puppet figure.
