Profile
"I was listenin' to the ocean, I saw a face in the sand. But when I picked it up, it vanished away from my hands."
A very large, thick-furred chocolate tom with white highlights and crimson eyes.
Summary
Alderstorm has been around the cliffside for a while, but took some time after becoming a warrior to explore and find himself. He's always struggled with a sense of restlessness that he's never been able to solve, but now he chooses to endure it while staying in the place he was born. He's very laid back and goes with the flow... but if you do something deserving of punishment, he won't be idle.
A kind soul, he might stick out to some for that as well as his size. He'd rather everyone get along but he understands not everyone will. He has a blast pretending to be older than he is to strangers, letting kits ride around on his back, and hunting big game with his clan. He's a stranger to love, but should it come his way, he'd be happy to give it a try.

Additional Personality Info
Alderstorm is a calm, serious warrior with a great deal of passion and dedication. At least some of the time. He's constantly mistaken for being older due to his appearance, and can't help but get a little bit peeved - he's only 40! But he also likes being able to mess with the young cats who've never met him before into thinking he's the oldest cat in the clans. His seriousness is usually saved for things that deserve it, like warrior duties. Rest of the time he's a charming, lighthearted, sarcastic guy with a clever wit hiding underneath his deep, gentle voice. Not what you'd expect from appearance alone, but he likes to surprise strangers by cracking or joke or with a witty remark to lessen the tension. He likes to tease sometimes, but it's always in good spirits. A jokester but mature, and knows how to read a room to pick between lighthearted and serious. Alder is also happy to help those who ask for it. He rarely gets angry, but won't hesitate to lay into someone if they really deserve it. And when it comes from him, you know they really do deserve it. He can come across as pretty intimidating, especially if he actually means to be intimidating... but most of the time it isn't intentional. He's bad at talking about his past and wants in his life because he isn't really sure what he wants. He doesn't have a lot of aspirations or goals, so... he's a pretty laid-back, go with the flow kind of guy.
Physical Description
Detailed Appearance
He's large, and looks even bigger thanks to his thick coat. Despite that, he isn't extremely toned, sporting a bulky build that really is just a mystery under all that fluff. His fur is prominent especially on his face and the back of his neck, appearing to be a beard and mohawk respectively, both colored white. There are other areas where his fur droops down, like in the pockets of his limbs. Even his toes are fluffy. His base color is chocolate with a darker brown forehead, neck, front socks, back, haunches, and tail, with a few spots throughout (like under his eyes). He has a white beard, mane, eyebrows, underbelly, and white accents the fluff on his joints. Lighter brown accents are also strewn throughout, such as on his muzzle, torso, tail, and hind socks, appearing as stripes in some places. His eyes are an almond red, and are small and angled down. He has pointed ears, a somewhat sloped muzzle, and a thick tail. His flesh is a light pink for his inner ears, nose, paw pads, and scars.

Backstory

Early Life
Alderkit was born to Robinsun, a single mother with a large family in PeakClan. Named for his dark colors and large size, he was a big fluffball as a kitten. He grew up happily with his mom, grandma Strawberrypatch, and his moms siblings. He quickly adopted the PeakClan mindset, growing bold and reckless with ambitions for the future. A moon before his apprenticeship his aunt/uncle Spotsplash passed away, giving him the first of what would be many losses. He was sad and confused, and took some time to heal and understand exactly what happened.
His mother was quiet and collected, a cat of few words who didn't share a whole lot. He hoped to impress her and earn her favor, which he did have, but struggled to feel seen and heard with how poorly she expressed herself. She loved him without question though, and he loved her.
Apprenticeship
Alderpaw was apprenticed to Mountainroar, a goat patrol member and giant warrior. He was ecstatic to be her apprentice, working hard to impress and make her proud of him. She expressed her emotions much better than Robinsun did, and he started to lean on her more for praise and support. He still loved to spend time with his gram and family to show off the new things he'd learned or any impressive catches, and would save the best for his gram to eat. He did well as an apprentice, though his reckless and brash behavior continued with some checking from Mountainroar. He mellowed out a bit especially toward the end.
His Goat Patrol went very well. He played a crucial part in taking down the goat, using his large size to weigh it to the ground. It was a really fun experience getting to hunt with so many cats all at once, and to catch something so big! Everyone was proud of him, and he was proud too.
Adulthood
Alderstorm was named for his quick acting and leadership in battle and on team hunts, as well as his size. For the first few moons things were okay, he was still praised and proud of himself for becoming a full warrior... but there was a strange restlessness that he couldn't shake. An itch he couldn't scratch. It was Hickorysnap, an older warrior, who encouraged him to explore the world upon realizing that perhaps he longed to see what life was like outside of PeakClan. So he bid goodbye to his family promising to come back, most of whom encouraged his temporary departure. Not his mother though. She was heartbroken, fearing he would never return. He believes that part of her fear lingered ever after his return.
Off he went into the wilderness. He avoided the Ice-Stone place, hoping to live among the trees and mountains alone to see what was out there. It was beautiful, wild, exciting and dangerous... and lonely. Living in a clan really hammered in how isolating it was when no one was around all the time. It had its perks and he learned much from fellow travelers, but alas, the lonliness only made that restless feeling worse. So he headed home after a short 5 months out on his own. He was cautiously accepted back by the clan, but his family welcomed him with smiles and joy. He'd changed on his journey, mellowing out quite a bit and gaining a new appreciation for rational thinking and kindness, especially thanks to his gram. She was always kind to everyone, and he wanted to be like that instead of how he'd been acting.
After a few more moons he'd earned his place back into the clan, even enough to be made a member of the goat patrol. He was happy to help with big hunts and work alongside his former mentor, even assisting some of the younger warriors. Unfortunately during the great snow many cats were lost, including his aunt/uncle... and his mother. In her final hours she apologized for her inability to express herself, saying that she loved him dearly and to take care of Strawberrypatch. Alderstorm had nothing to forgive; he loved her, she was a great mom and he was lucky to have her in his life. She passed relatively peacefully after that, but having lost so much all at once, it affected Alderstorm than he likes to admit. He became even more protective over his gram especially with her fading senses and dementia, taking her for walks and continuing to fetch her the best prey. He likes to ask for helpful herbs to give her, too.
Now, Alderstorm is just letting life carry him where it wants to. He doesn't have any goals or ambition like he did in his youth, and while coming home did help with the restlessness, he still feels that itch on the back of his neck.
Relationships
STANDING
PeakClan
Even though he left for a while, PeakClan has always been his home. He was raised there, born there to the best of his knowledge, and that's where he decided he wanted to live after trekking through the land. He likes the mountains, the big hunts, the climbing... it suits him. He's become a good warrior since returning, dutifully contributing and even becoming a member of the goat patrol. He loves his clan and is always happy to help however he can.
Strawberrypatch
Don't go anywhere, Gram.
Alder's grandmother has always been there. She was his gram from day one; a playmate, a friend, someone he really looked up to. She's kind to everyone, a generous spirit and a warm soul that Alder hopes to embody himself. He didn't do as good a job in his younger years, even though he still looked up to her back then it was less so than he does now.
He loves her a lot, especially as his only remaining immediate family. Her dementia is painful to watch, he can see that she's beginning to fade and that makes him incredibly torn and sad. His protectiveness is increasing especially with her dulling senses, but he keeps a positive attitude through it all, taking her for walks and escorting her wherever she asks to go. Deep down he's struggling to handle it all, because... he always had Strawberry to help him get through the other deaths in their family, and she had him. But what happens when she's the one to go? He'd be crushed.
Mountainroar
I'm glad you found where you want to be. I do miss you though.
His mentor from when she was still in PeakClan, Alder really looked up to Mountain in his younger years. She was an excellent teacher, guiding force, and an additional parental figure in his life, though he hasn't told them that. Despite being rambunctious and bold in his youth, they got along well and she knew exactly how to handle him. Nowadays he considers her a peer and good friend.
Them leaving PeakClan stung a bit more than he'd like to admit. It forced him to not only reflect on the impact his own leaving had, but it was another log on the fire that his family is crumbling. Everyone started to disappear around the same time, including Mountain. He respects her decision since he can relate to how she feels and wishes nothing but the best for her. Besides, they can still chat! But... he does miss them in PeakClan as a clanmate, fellow Goat Patrol member, friend, and someone he could go to for advice.
