Having grown up in the underground town Quartz Cavern, Zenith had a bit of a tough home life. His early childhood started off fairly normal. Things started to go downhill when his father, Evren, got sick. It was mild at first, and he was fine, but as the years went on, his condition got worse. Soon enough, he was bedridden. Zenith's mother, Cressida, became less and less stable as time passed. Due to this, Zenith's life began to fall apart. Losing hope that her husband would even live led Cressida to neglect Zenith, lose her social connections, and stop taking care of herself.

With neither of his parents able to hold things together, Zenith had to step up. He took care of the house, was usually the one to feed everyone, and looked after his parents. Fortunately, a family friend, Cygnus, was able to step up and help care for Evren. This shouldered some of the responsibility from Zenith, allowing him a little time to focus on his education and what scrap of a personal life he had left. Unfortunately, the tragedy of Evren's illness and stress of essentially being a single parent (both exaggerations) took Cressida down a dark path. She treated Zenith… extremely poorly, to put it lightly. This added more stress on top of having to take care of everyone and tend to his own life at the same time.

Eventually, Evren passed away. Cygnus moved to a city on the surface shortly after. Cressida's mental health declined further, and Zenith was left to deal with it all alone. He suffered through her neglect and abuse for another year before he was old enough and had enough money to move out. He moved to a town on the surface called Vistosa, a cultural hub with a thriving marketplace where Umbrain Imps and Solar Imps met to create a unique subculture. There, he lived with Cygnus for a while. He eventually met Eli and Iggy, and moved in with them after having been friends for a while. He still lives with them currently, and for the first time, he's in a stable place and satisfied wit his life.
