Rembrandt is a very pessimistic character, often musing about how futile all efforts are, and how death is an ever present force. This is due to his existence, a poppy boon. Poppies are used as a sign to remember the dead, and considering his affiliation with the Mortician Spirit, death is a concept always on his mind. He was created to honor the dead, he shall exist as long as there are lost lives to be honored, and as he says, death will never stop taking.
