Lake
"Demons deserve kindness too."
Lake was born in a small village on the border of Kashima and the Lakori Wilds. Despite a challenging home life Lake has always managed to be a positive and kind hearted individual, something she probably adopted from other village inhabitants.
To her surprise Lake found out early on that she was an earth elemental, arguably the worst power among elementals, much don't see use for it past using it for farming or more mundane tasks. Lake would have just assumed the same but an unlikely mentor would take the young elf under their wing. A demon woman, she'd left her kin and was trying to live peacefully in the nearby forest. The woman sensed power within Lake however that she felt must be nurtured, that Lake could be exactly what the world needed.
Things would happen that would bring Lake under the supervision of the Dawn Seekers in Landsmeet, where she would spend the rest of her childhood, along two other children close in age. Everyday Lake trained herself to the limit, whether practicing swordsmanship or her earth magic. Her tenacious spirit was inspiring to everyone around her, and it was easy to tell that she would become a powerful seeker in time.
Finally reaching adulthood Lake became a full fledged member of the Dawn Seekers, finally able to do tasks without being under the supervision of a mentor. And Lake would take full advantage of this, soon sensing a disturbance in the earth beneath Landsmeet.

Personality
Brave
Lake has always been brave, ever since she was a small child. She didn't back down from any challenges and will selflessly throw herself into danger for others.
Empathetic
Lake has always been good at sensing the feelings of others, and finds herself easily wrapped up in other's emotions. Riley calls her a crybaby sometimes.
Trusting
For whatever reason Lake has always been willing to believe what most people tell her. She wants to see the good in people, human, elf, or demon. She is definitely too trusting however, Akari and Riley are usually there to steer her right in suspicious circumstances.
Kind
Lake latched onto the phrase "treat others how you'd like to be treated" when she was young. She tries to be her kindest to everyone she meets, even if they're not treating her the same way Lake believes kindness can change almost anyone.
Anxious
She tries not to shows it, but Lake suffers quite a lot of anxiety and PTSD. The memories of her family's abuse haunt her, and sometimes this makes her react a little rashly. Sometimes Akari plays her harp to help Lake calm down when she's worked up, the melody sooths her.
Air headed
Though Lake is fierce and attentive when it comes to battle, for everyday life she's a little more relaxed. She'll let her mind wander when she feels safe, to the point where she blocks out some things around her. This leads to her missing bits of conversation and sometimes wandering into a dangerous situation.

Summary
Childhood
Lake's childhood was rather unhappy to begin with. Her father left when she was very young, leaving her mother to raise her and her two older siblings alone. Presumably because Lake looked the most like her father, her mother took out all her aggressions on Lake and basically used them as slave labor. Her siblings would do the same, ordering her around and mistreating her constantly.
Shockingly even in this environment Lake managed to remain kind and empathetic. This was more due to the other villagers she would constantly help out, as she was willing to do anything to keep her from home for as long as possible.
When Lake was eight she was drawn into the forest, finding that she ended up in front of a nearby tree of life. She was surprised to find out a demon was already there, seeming to use earth magic to nurture the tree. At this point Lake didn't know much about demons, and was very curious about the new arrival.
After introducing herself to the demon (who's name was Katari). The demon was very warm, almost motherly towards Lake. Katari was the one who helped Lake find out she was an earth elemental. Over the next four years Katari and Lake lived in the forest in secret, Katari knew enough magic to keep them well hidden. They'd train with earth magic everyday, alongside daily meditation at the tree of light, sun, rain, or snow.
One day Lake and Katari woke in the middle of the night, feeling a great disturbance in the earth beneath them. They ran to the tree of life to find another demon there, they'd covered the tree of life in some type of goop Lake had never seen. Katari seemed to know exactly what it was, and tried to silently back away with Lake, but a stray branch beneath their feet gave them away.
The demon was on them fast, Katari through herself in front of Lake, and was sent flying into the dark goop. Lake could do nothing but watch helplessly as the goop consumed her caretaker. The demon told Lake she was next as they approached, stating that "Earth elementals must be purged." But before they had a chance a surprise hero came to Lake's aid, quickly beheading the demon.
This stranger turned out to be a Dawn Seeker, a somewhat new organization dedicated to fighting "The Blight" that was being spread by demons. They made the choice to bring Lake to their headquarters in Landsmeet, where she would join two other children under the mentorship of an air elemental named Roxy.
Teen years
After being brought to the Dawn Seekers Lake and her fellow children would end up being put under rigorous training regimens. The three would alternate between training with weapons and their elemental abilities every day. Of course, Lake was an earth elemental, the other elf named Akari was a water and air elemental, and the human Riley was a fire elemental.
The three grew very close over the years, even referring to themselves as siblings despite there being no blood relation. Lake was finally in an environment where she received praise and support from multiple sources, which proved to reinforce her kind and caring nature.
All their training was restricted to the base of the Dawn Seekers, they were forbidden from actively seeking out sources of the blight and demons on their own. However they could see the blight for themselves as long as there was a graduated member of the Dawn Seekers there to supervise.
Young adulthood
Finally in her 20s Lake and her new siblings were full fledged members of the Dawn Seekers. All three were now seen as skilled warriors, and would be able to access all the resources bared off to them before. The three took a lot of small jobs with rumors of demon or blight sightings but weren't having much luck. That is until one night, while Lake and her siblings were heading home Lake felt a scarily familiar feeling in the earth beneath them. She ran to find the source of the disturbance, with her siblings close behind.
Roxy
[ Mentor ]
Roxy was Lake, Akari, and Riley's mentor in the Dawn Seekers. Everyday Roxy pushed them to their limits to make sure they would never put themselves in a situation they couldn't handle, Lake picked up on this and often went to Roxy to ask for any extra lessons she could get. Roxy really enjoyed Lake's courageous spirit, and found herself able to open herself up to others more than she had in the past years she'd been there.
Akari
[ Sister ]
Lake was the first to break through to Akari in her time at the Dawn Seekers. Akari didn't seem to want anything to do with anyone unless it was about the blight and how to stop it. However through patience and taking things slow Lake was able to get Akari to come out of her shell again. They formed a strong bond from this, and Akari has become very protective of Lake because of this.
Riley
[ Brother ]
When the two first met, though Lake was more than happy to get to know him Riley found himself a little irritated by Lake's attention. When he found out how gullible she was he would use this to trick Lake into getting up to no good with him, but this was usually stopped by Akari. Over time Riley found that he felt like something was missing whenever Lake wasn't around, even though she annoyed him sometimes he found himself missing her company.
Arlo
[ Love Interest ]
From the start Lake was pretty accepting of Arlo and believed him, unlike her siblings. Arlo sometimes comes off a crude or crass towards others, but Lake sees right through that to his good heart and intentions. Arlo ends up becoming a big sap for Lake.
