Akari
"I won't let the blight take away anyone I love ever again."
Akari was born into a noble family of Kashima. Her parents were very loving and doting, always making Akari come first. She was well educated and taken care of, and had a very good relationship with her family. When Akari was six she found out very early that she was an elemental of both water and air, her parents would hire a master for each element to make sure Akari would get proper use from her magic.
Her entire world was changed when she returned home from an outing with friends, they'd been celebrating her fourteenth birthday. She was faced with the sight of the blight, spreading from a tree of life that had been there for centuries. It was being assaulted by a demon who slaughtered her family. The Dawn Seeker Roxy would save Akari's life, and then took Akari with her.
After losing her family she isolated herself and spent every waking moment researching ways to destroy the blight. It wasn't till Lake and Riley arrived that Akari started living in the present moment again. Lake's kindness and Riley's antics somehow grounded her, and she became like her old self again. She, Lake, and Riley finally graduated as full fledged members after years of training, and Akari is determined to use all her knowledge to find a way to eliminate the blight.

Personality
Brave
Lake has always been brave, ever since she was a small child. She didn't back down from any challenges and will selflessly throw herself into danger for others.
Empathetic
Lake has always been good at sensing the feelings of others, and finds herself easily wrapped up in other's emotions. Riley calls her a crybaby sometimes.
Trusting
For whatever reason Lake has always been willing to believe what most people tell her. She wants to see the good in people, human, elf, or demon. She is definitely too trusting however, Akari and Riley are usually there to steer her right in suspicious circumstances.
Kind
Lake latched onto the phrase "treat others how you'd like to be treated" when she was young. She tries to be her kindest to everyone she meets, even if they're not treating her the same way Lake believes kindness can change almost anyone.
Anxious
She tries not to shows it, but Lake suffers quite a lot of anxiety and PTSD. The memories of her family's abuse haunt her, and sometimes this makes her react a little rashly. Sometimes Akari plays her harp to help Lake calm down when she's worked up, the melody sooths her.
Air headed
Though Lake is fierce and attentive when it comes to battle, for everyday life she's a little more relaxed. She'll let her mind wander when she feels safe, to the point where she blocks out some things around her. This leads to her missing bits of conversation and sometimes wandering into a dangerous situation.

Summary
Childhood
Akari grew up as the child of Kashima nobles. She always had everything she could ever want, and she was her parents pride and joy. She was always well behaved, as she wanted to bring honor to her family and make them proud. She was not only gifted with intelligence, but with the gifts of both air and water, receiving an element from each of her parents. A rare occurrence, but one that Akari was very proud of.
She had two different masters to teach her about her elemental magic. She became adept with it at a young age, her masters becoming as proud of her as her parents were. Akari was very popular and had many friends in Kashima, but she was even closer with her family and usually liked to spend her free time with them or her masters. However on her fourteenth birthday she would be out spending most of the day with her friends, and would celebrate with her family in the evening.
She had a great day and would bid her friends farewell, only to return home to her worst nightmare. Akari's house had been built around one of the trees of life found throughout the region, and it was part of her family's duties to upkeep this tree and make sure it was safe. This unfortunately made it a target for the blight. Akari entered into her home to find the tree covered in the blight, and spreading throughout her house.
Though confused and scared, Akari started calling out for her family so she could help them. This caught the attention of a demon who would tell Akari of how he'd killed her family, and how fun it was for him. This made Akari lash out and almost get herself killed, but a dawn seeker interrupted at the last second, driving the demon off.
This dawn seeker was Roxy, who Akari would demand to take with her back to the dawn seeker's headquarters, to teach her how to fight the blight.
Teen years
Akari would spend the rest of her childhood under the guidance of Roxy, learning to utilize her magic more and to fight with a naginata. She was in a dark place however, hardly ever talking to anyone, and spending so much time studying the blight that she would forget to sleep or eat. Roxy tried to get her to give herself a break but had trouble getting through to her. That was until Lake and Riley arrived.
The two arrived at the same time, as they were saved by the same dawn seeker. Riley immediately got on Akari's nerves as he would constantly try and mess with her to get her away from her studies, and it tended to work. Lake's approach was very different. She would always check up on Akari and make sure she was okay, even when Akari wasn't the nicest to her. Eventually she warmed up to both Riley and Lake, becoming as protective with them as she would to her own family.
She basically ended up becoming some sort of mother for them, keeping them out of trouble, making sure they were keeping up with training, she even made the clothes they wore.
Young adulthood
Reaching her 20s Akari and her "siblings" were promoted to full fledged dawn seekers. This was Akari's proudest moment, as she felt she was finally strong enough to avenge her family.
Roxy
[ Mentor ]
Roxy was Lake, Akari, and Riley's mentor in the Dawn Seekers. Everyday Roxy pushed them to their limits to make sure they would never put themselves in a situation they couldn't handle, Lake picked up on this and often went to Roxy to ask for any extra lessons she could get. Roxy really enjoyed Lake's courageous spirit, and found herself able to open herself up to others more than she had in the past years she'd been there.
Lake
[ Sister ]
Lake was the first to break through to Akari in her time at the Dawn Seekers. Akari didn't seem to want anything to do with anyone unless it was about the blight and how to stop it. However through patience and taking things slow Lake was able to get Akari to come out of her shell again. They formed a strong bond from this, and Akari has become very protective of Lake because of this.
Riley
[ Brother ]
When the two first met, though Lake was more than happy to get to know him Riley found himself a little irritated by Lake's attention. When he found out how gullible she was he would use this to trick Lake into getting up to no good with him, but this was usually stopped by Akari. Over time Riley found that he felt like something was missing whenever Lake wasn't around, even though she annoyed him sometimes he found himself missing her company.
Arlo
[ Travel Companion ]
From the start Lake was pretty accepting of Arlo and believed him, unlike her siblings. Arlo sometimes comes off a crude or crass towards others, but Lake sees right through that to his good heart and intentions. Arlo ends up becoming a big sap for Lake.
