Upon first knowing Isla you wouldn't think of her as friendly or caring. She has a gruff composure and an angry resting face. She's filled with confidence, courage, determination and blunt honesty. Having a short temper she can come off as bossy or condescending but when it all boils down to it she's an excellent leader with the sole purpose of helping and protecting all those around her. She has a huge, caring heart and struggles with expressing it on the spot. Once her hard exterior has been let down she's sweet, loving and fun.

History/Abilities

Gold Mimicry
Can turn her body into solid gold. Her gold reacts the same as gold would, resistant to corrosion, conducts electricity, malleable, ductile. Also makes her heavy and slow. She can turn body parts(usually her arms) into weapons. If a chunk of her is broken off, she can regrow if she’s in her gold form when it happens. However, she cannot regrow her natural body parts. Nor can she change the shape of her metal arm, even if it was made out of gold; The arm's not originally part of her, so it doesn’t have the same effect.

Being kicked from her life as a lab rat wasn’t the best thing that could’ve happened to her. Living in what she later realized was a giant indestructible dome was pretty okay. At least, in comparison to living in the wastes. She may have had frequent testings and been forced a bit past her limit, but hey, her pain tolerance was a lot higher because of it.

The wastes though...an awful, awful place. Filled with every lurking monster imaginable. Thankfully she was taken in by some travellers she met up with in a rundown town. Her and a couple others she was kicked out with went with them. The travellers were heading to the outskirts of a city where there was rumoured to be a massive museum where a community of people were living.

Upon arriving they were asked a few questions such as how long they’d been travelling, what dome they were from and what their ability was. After that they were all required to get a tattoo on their back, which, according to them would keep them invisible to a good chunk of the monsters.

The museum was all boarded up with metals and woods and covered in what Isla thought was graffiti, but later learned were seals and spells to ward off demons. Inside she was put to work and given a room to share with another girl. The work she did felt boring and meaningless and she longed to do more intense work, like hunting or being a guard or standing at a lookout. She requested one of those jobs and was tested for her fighting abilities, which she passed. She became a door guard.

Always being by the door she became well acquainted with who came and went. Most of them being the hunters and scavengers. She met Shawn while guarding, who was always trying to grab her attention when he left and returned. For awhile she did good to brush him off, focusing on doing her duty, but as time went by she responded more and laughed at his silly antics.

Outside of that, she didn’t give him much attention. Until there was an incident while she was on watch. A giant monster came stampeding towards the museum where her and the team fought it off. Isla lost her arm in the process and had to spend a month in the medical wing. Shawn came by to visit her a few times, bringing jokes and fantastical stories and she enjoyed it. The rest of the time she felt bored and miserable. She didn’t think they’d let her have a decent job with only one arm. Her confidence ended up breaking and she expressed her worries to Shawn. He told her that he might be able to help, but it’d be risky and painful at first. Isla didn’t care. So with the help of a mediocre healer and Shawn’s scrap findings, he built her a robotic arm. It was nothing pretty, but it worked and that was really all that mattered to her. And through her fit of excitement she hugged Shawn.

After that she focused all of her energy into being the best help she could be. She talked to people more and gradually became a little bit more warm hearted, more optimistic. Isla quickly made her way up to being the overseer of all guards, scavengers and hunters. After a year went by the current leader was killed in a battle and Isla was voted in to take his place. She’s now been in charge of the entire museum for eight years, with no serious incidents. She's also been with Shawn for seven years.

Shawn

The two have been together for 7 years. They're cuddly and cute in private (Isla calls him Shawny or Bear). But in public he's called Ryder. She takes her community leadership role very seriously. Though, Shawn doesn't make it easy for her with his constant flirts and teasing.

She met him when Shawn brought him in. At first she was wary of him, but now (when she has the time) she enjoys spending time with the quirky boy.
