Over the past few years the Rovalur house was a small family within Menzoberranzan. Things have always been a struggle for the house, the dwindling family members and the ever looming threat of debt collection hanging over their head. Of course Akore, being the head of the house worked day in and day out to keep things afloat. Like the illusion of drowning. On the surface everything seemed to be operating as per normal, but behind the scenes, it's a constant struggle, a fight to keep the family name alive. With the passing of many of the immediate family members, mostly due to inter house skirmishes, Akore was left to be the last standing mistress of the house.

As per drow culture, the woman was the one to carry the family name. So long as there was a mistress standing, the house name would live on. Together with a Sargent of the militia, she strived to keep the family name alive. Hope shown down upon her with the birth of her daughter Kalyana.

The upbringing of Kalyana has always been a difficult one. There wasn't a day that goes by where she wouldn't push back against everything she was instructed. She was to be the one to carry on the family name and make headway for the Rovalur house, she didn't have much choice but to be harsh with her. When her attempts to reason with her failed, she became desperate. Of course, she did what she knew worked best. For every infraction a swift punishment was delivered. It was the way her mother was, and her mother before. If it worked in the past, there's no reason it shouldn't work now.

As time grew on, she began to wear out. Her efforts were in vain, yet she couldn't understand why. Why would someone, born into a position of so much privilege fight so hard to reject it? Perhaps she could let things slide and let her be, but there was too much on the line. If Kalyana wouldn't step up to be the woman of the household, the family name ends with her. That's when it all happened. The tipping of the iceberg. Kalyana fled the city in secrecy. She didn't have a lot of options. She had to get her daughter back. After spending countless days and nights scouring the streets and the neighbouring cities, she couldn't find her lost daughter.

Shortly after finding Kalyana and.... Having the fallout. She just, couldn't. All those years of trying to shape her and bring her up to be the head of the household... Was all for naught. Seeing her mutilate her body in such a way, dragging her back to Menzoberranzan would only sink the house deeper into the quicksand of dissolving they were already in.

The trip back to Menzoberranzan was only a few days journey, but to her it was the longest travel she's had. Flashes of memories, seeing Kalyana growing up, all the moments she cherished was better off gone. If she truly hated her as much as she said, and hell,  actions speak louder than words. Kalyana's statement was as clear as day. She failed her.

This was perhaps one of the biggest failures of the house, and one that would cost them greatly. Over the hours and miles of walking she played the scenario over in her mind. How was she to justify her daughter... Not returning? If the truth came out, it would be all over for her. The only way out would be the sweet release of death. That would mean the death of the Rovalur house, an embarrassment to the highest degree. To have the family killed off would be honorable, at least there was a fight. But an internal loss such as this? A humiliation of the highest degree. She failed to raise a daughter to continue the family line.

Hours and hours of walking, the scenarios playing through her mind like some sick sadistic game. Her trying to explain where her daughter went and why she hasn't returned. How she was going to convince him to help her have another child. Or rather why she should be allowed another child? She failed this one so badly, what could she do to prove it won't happen again? The panic and the endless stream of thoughts overwhelming her mind reached an epitome upon entering the city gates to Menzoberanzan. Overcome with the stress, she collapsed in the street. Weeping tirelessly. Fortunately some of the guards nearby rushed to her aid.

Returning to the house, questions upon questions began to arise. Many of them regarding her daughter, and others about this episode of her collapse in the street. Some of the others managed to piece together that something tragic had happened with Kalyana, and if she didn't come back, something had happened. She fed into these speculations eventually coming to the conclusion that there was a run in with the illithid while on the return. It.... Was the most honourable thing she could do, both for Kalyana's sake and her own.

From that point onwards, life continued on. She had another child, Relonzaer. His upbringing was rather atypical. She kept herself as uninvolved as she possibly could, letting the house attendants raise him. As a result the sheer disconnect between the two made things difficult. Bringing him into the house upon reaching the age of maturity, there was strife. The house meant nothing to him. Disowning the family name, he left to join the military of a rival drow house Mizzrym.

After Relonzaer left to the military, records were mostly lost on him. Having operating under the Mizzrym name in spite of his mother. Having the Mizzrym name gained him a significant rank, all through the forging of personal identification documents. He was sent to school to become an elite warrior. An expert in the militia field. He was exceptionally successful at his studies graduating at a rather young age. Or rather, was due to graduate. Upon reaching the graduation process, the Mizzrym house caught wind of someone from their house graduating from military school. It didn't take long for them to learn that he was operating under forged documents. In a matter of days, he was arrested and sentenced to the punishment most severe: the drider process.

Tensions between the Rovalur house and the Mizzrym house had always been tight. More so due to the debts racked up over time. But this impostorism was the final straw. The Rovalur house was declared an enemy of the Mizzrym house, and an extermination order was issued. Numerous militia members of the Mizzrym house showed up, slaughtering each and every attendant and remaining member of the struggling Rovalur house. The bloodbath didn't last more than a few hours and the house was declared dissolved.

((Jumping back in time))

The birth of Rolanzaer was bittersweet, having another child under the Rovalur house was more than needed, but a male wasn't capable of carrying the family name forward. Akore's mental state was already in a very poor place, but in desperation for a daughter, she tried again for another child. Luck was not something she had the luxury of having, she had another son, Keldoran. Much like his older brother, Akore was distant. Keeping herself as uninvolved as possible. His upbringing was perhaps one of the most difficult of the two. From a young age, being heavily influenced by the resentment Rolanzaer had for Akore, Keldoran was much more free spirited than his brother.

Many of his infractions on the house were not out of spite, but rather he was one to have his own agenda. He was far more interested in the beauty and the arts of the literature. Frequently skipping out on many of his duties and responsibilities he preferred spending time in the library. Home to him was a place of constant hostility and strife. The constant arguing and spats between Rolanzaer and Akore made things difficult for him. Naturally, he preferred to avoid the conflict if possible. Unfortunately, the male role of the drow culture was based entirely around the warfare and confronting conflict. He did everything he could to avoid being conscripted. Unfortunately his life was cut quite short upon the assault from the house Mizzrym. Because of his lack of attendance at the military schools, he didn't stand a chance against the attacks.
