Missing (Evanescence)

Singularity might appear aloof and perhaps even a little snobbish at first impression, but she assures you she's not. In reality, she's simply rather "unfocused" due to how everything constantly seems to be running through her noggin all at once, and that she's just somewhat easily distracted in general. (Before you think about making a joke about her head being a black hole in some way: it's probably not as clever as you think it is.) Once you spend a little time around her, though, she's very sweet with an innate curiosity for all things, but especially the universe. She could ramble on for hours if you asked her about physics or astronomy, so you'd best pull up a chair and cancel any plans for the afternoon.

Singularity has an odd fascination with "placement", as she calls it. Essentially, it's the locations of objects. How and why are they placed where they are? What else could fit in that place if that object wasn't there? How would that object's absence from its place affect everything? It's just deeply intriguing in a way that she can never quite articulate, and she's given up trying. Nobody seems to get it, anyway. Still, she's very grateful that her friends are supportive of her interest, especially when they let her ramble about it.

Something feels... empty, though. Singularity often finds herself feeling as if something missing - as if SHE'S missing, somehow - but she can never pinpoint it. She sometimes wonders if this feeling of being "missing" is why she's so interested in placement. ...But how could she be missing? She knows where she is, she has friends with her and they all know where she is, too. ...Although... Now that she thinks about it, the "missing" feeling does seem to go away when she's in her friends' company. Could that be it? That her feeling of being "missing" is simply feeling lonely without her friends around her?

...No. She doesn't think so.

  • Singularity appears to perceive the world around her as moving just a tiny bit slower than it actually is, which she theorises is due to her black hole halo's relativity. She's not complaining, though. The pace-change is barely noticeable and she's certainly not going to complain about having a second or two longer to organise her thoughts during conversation than she would otherwise have.
  • Anything attempting to touch her black hole will "slip around" it as if magnetically repelled. Slipping around it almost feels like touching "liquid air".
  • You CAN touch her acceleration disk, and while it feels a little "tingly", physical contact doesn't interfere with it at all. It does make some pretty sparks as it spins into whatever's touching it, though.
  • Her dark matter "coils" around objects trying to touch it but never makes physical contact. Despite never touching it, one does feel a slight tingle, almost like static electricity, in the air close to her dark matter. Unlike electricity, though, dark matter static feels... "cold" somehow.
  • Her dark matter behaves differently when she feels certain emotions:
    • It "crackles" a lot less, doesn't move as quickly, and almost appears to have softer edges and points when she feels calm or subdued.
    • It "crackles" much more, shifts around much faster, and appears much sharper when she's angry, panicking, or otherwise stressed out. Her size-changing might subconsciously scale her up a bit when angry.
    • When upset or frightened, it "clings" to her as if trying to shield her. Her size-changing also subconsciously shrinks her down a little bit.
    • If she really wants to be near somebody - whether it's because she's happy to see them or she needs their comfort - it "reaches" for that person as if trying to hold them and pull them closer. When close enough, it'll actively coil around them.
  • She tooootally didn't get slammed with my ADHD/autism projection bat what are you talking about
