Eris Manning's Links
Not the first one caught in this, and certainly not the last.
“It doesn’t make sense…”
..... best to stay away from him. For his own safety.
Oh, that little runt? He makes for a good punching bag, at least. Doesn't have much use otherwise.
Eris is so tired of being the weakest. He hates this pervasive feeling of powerlessness more than anything else. Why did he have to be born this way…?
She remembers this one. Used to be a regular at the shrine - desperately praying for things to change. I suppose he got his wish… for better or worse.
“I wouldn’t really consider myself a lucky person…. But maybe. Maybe today, things are going to different.”
“Ah, looks like you pulled a great fortune slip today. Lucky you! Your future is looking up.”
You don't understand. He- He was given a chance. He -
The fantasy only lasts for so long. You’ll see what happens when you break the rules.
… well, no matter how bad it can get, you can at least take comfort in the fact you can never be worse than Eris! After all, even THAT is better than nothing, haha. … At least Victor was one of the nicer ones.
....I'm sorry. If I wasn't scared, I could've done more for him. He's the only reason, that I avoided the same fate. I haven't checked on him in a while, maybe I should... Give my apology...
Uhm, Apollo’s never been one for talking. At least, hasn’t really been himself since… THAT. He mostly just steals your stuff and leaves. But at least he’s not… the worst as far as the brothers go.
.… (gentler than dew-drops at dawn.)
Apollo is only alive because of his epithet. If Reece got his hands on Eris… it wouldn’t take much, really. So he tries to steer as far as he can from him. Really, REALLY far away, as in a whole different city away. He shudders to think about his childhood memories with Reece..
Hm... Eris... Ehehe, he's right, you know... Let's say, if Reece got his hands on him... Well, it wouldn't be open casket, that's for sure.
You know, he was really hoping that Presh wouldn’t turn out like the rest. That he was being genuine in his words, that their shared experience at the bottom, hiding from their older brothers would mean something. They’re twins, aren’t they? They were supposed to stick together. But. Presh got his epithet, and Eris… never did. And in this hierarchy, Eris has nothing to offer. What came from that was to be expected, although that didn’t stop the hurt whenever a new line was crossed. Well. Not like powerless Eris could do anything about it. Nothing but keep his head low and take it. Again. And again.
Who? My little brother? Ha! That’s kids old news. Suuure- I feel bad for him, I mean- I was already a hard act to follow, but then to get no epithet at all? *really*, it’s tragic. It’s…
It’s really, tragic.
….
Perhaps it’s best to move on, hm? Wouldn’t want his bad luck creeping into my next performance, aha!
(His twin brother. Sometimes, he misses being a two part show.)
Between getting beat up or getting ignored outright, Eris would always take the latter. It.. gets kinda lonely, sometimes. Makes him almost wish that he was something worthwhile, so that he would be able to justify merely *existing* by his siblings for more than a moment.
She usually leaves Eris alone; He isn't worth Yaki's time after all.
Though Yaki did take care of the necessary clean up after her brother's had their fun with Eris.
It was just so Eris didn't bleed all over their carpet, nothing more. . .
His dearest friend! Truthfully, his only friend.. Lily would stand up for Eris when he wouldn’t. He really appreciates her. She kinda kept him alive through school, haha. Although, even that wouldn't last. Lily eventually left to go study at college, and ... they more or less fell out of contact after that. Or, to be more accurate, Eris pointedly started keeping his distance away from his friend. He's already been a burden enough in her life. Best to not drag her down to his level any further.
You and me, buddy. Us mundies got to stick together! Lily sees the world in Eris. He’s genuinely one of the sweetest people she’s ever known. It hurts to see the world kick someone down like that just because he doesn’t have an epithet! She does what she can to look out for him, even if it means getting in a bit of trouble. But despite her efforts, she could feel him pulling away a little bit more with each passing year. She won't admit it, but she's .... worried about Eris. She has to fix this. She has to.
The Founder represents prosperity, community, abundance, good fortune - all things Eris has been lacking in his life. Under Her gaze, "everyone is loved" - but, ha, that surely isn't true. After all, why would he be loved? What does someone like *Eris* have to offer?
