In-Depth
Diplomatic with a side of humorous. He tends to try and see the bright side, and work around things without a fight--even with his background as a mercenary. He's not one to kill without reason, but he's not exactly opposed to killing, either, especially if it'll benefit the situation.
He's very adamant about the freedom of mages, though as an apostate he's a bit naive as to how bad the Circles are--especially the one in Kirkwall. Since he does not approve of blood magic or consorting with demons (at first), he feels that the Circle might be a good place for mages who are dabbling in either or both. *But with Knight-Commander Meredith in charge and a close friendship with the very adamant Anders, his view on mage freedom only gets stronger and stronger the longer he stays in Kirkwall. He fights against the Templars during the rebellion in order to keep them from carrying out the Right of Annulment issued by the lyrium-crazed Meredith. At some point during the fight against Templars and everyone supporting them, he snaps. Emilius tends to bottle his feelings in order to stay positive and humerous for his friends, but after everything he has to deal with over the course of the events in Kirkwall in addition to the guilt and stress--of losing his family, of trying to live up to the title of Champion, of being a mage in a city that hates them--he can't take the beatings any more and resorts to blood magic to wipe everyone out.

[HISTORY]
| *Emilius was originally from Lothering, the first town hit by the darkspawn during the Fifth Blight. When the town was destroyed, Hawke, his mother, and two younger siblings escaped to Kirkwall, where they had family. As they were leaving the town, an ogre attacked them and Bethany (sister) was killed. In Kirkwall, Emilius and his brother Carver were sold into indentured servitude in order to pay their way into the city--and thus became mercenaries. Later, he would restore their nobility by becoming the Champion of Kirkwall when he kills the Arishok after his attempt to start a war with the city. |
