G'iang is just a simple botanist who got roped up in the conflicts of the realm. He's low-energy and easily flustered, yet radiates an aura that seems to attract younger people to come to him to seek guidance... when he's just barely 30. A short descriptor of him would probably be... "depressed cat man". He really prefers to stay out of trouble and just live a peaceful life... with decent earnings, that is. Which is probably why you would probably see him at The Gold Saucer a lot. He's always scheming for new ways to earn a good buck, but would never steal or anything of the sort (he's too scared to). He's got a big crush on an Elezen lady.
He also has a cat, and is pretty attached to it.
