Goodwin appears in the Myrios Series.
Goodwin Arcana is a strange and eccentric woman who happens to be 450 years old. She works at the cafe in Myrios after applying for the job to reconnect with her friend Phecda. However, she has unusual powers from a strange land, and while she says she just wants to work at the cafe until her secret child is born, she also has a connection to experiments within the company Ares that can't be ignored, due to her knowledge of poisons as the company's Poisons Expert.
Goodwin is a goddess from the strange land of Curiah, explaining her powers and her age. Nearing the end of her lifespan, she intends to become a mother and keep the baby Aven safe, while helping the experiments that Ares created find a life outside the Ares Building before she has to return to her homeland in her death.
Appearance: Goodwin appears to be presumably in her early 30s. She has long purple hair that she often keeps pinned up, she has light purple eyes, and she wears Victorian era clothing (likely from the mid 1880s). She is missing her right arm. She sometimes wears a metal prosthetic in its place. For her cafe uniform, she wears a white shirt, a black tie, a black skirt, and black nylon tights.
Personality: Goodwin is energetic and flighty. She is also a bit nosy, always trying to ask about others' personal business or make assumptions about them. This is never intended to be offputting to others, but it can be a bit much for those she meets. While a bit of a gossip, she cares about her companions and values their presence in her life. She values them so much, in fact, that she collects tea sets to remind her of each person she has known in her life, so she will always remember those she cares most about. When she is upset, however, she is bold and demanding, and is willing to confront anyone no matter the power they hold, socially or through strange abilities.
Abilities: Goodwin has the ability to alter her physical form. This lasts only as long as the part she has altered is not touched by another person. She often uses this ability to conceal any signs of her pregnancy so her daughter Aven will be safe until she is born. These abilities do not cause either Goodwin or Aven any physical harm, but Goodwin has noted that she struggles to change her form back herself. She does not use this ability to create an arm for herself to replace the one she is missing, as she has a prosthetic arm for this purpose, and it likely would be difficult to keep others from making contact with it for a prolonged period of time.
She is able to change the form of other things when she uses the full extent of her powers. She doesn't do this often. It is implied it takes more focus for Curians to use their abilities projected beyond themselves, so this may be an explanation for her only using this ability to change her environment once.
As a goddess, she is the spirit of the rain in her homeland of Curiah. After her return to Curiah, she must take the form of the rain most of the time, but she occasionally is allowed to take a physical form as long as she stays in Curiah.
Other people tend to be drawn to Goodwin when she works at the cafe, drawing in customers at unprecedented rates for the business. Whether this is some innate ability or just her skill at connecting with others is uncertain.
