Cain was blamed for the death of his younger brother, cursed for eternity to never be able to till his own food, to be marked eternally as a fugitive. To never be fully accepted into a family. As life progressed for him, he never managed to marry, though he did father many children. Those children, because of his curse, developed a similar curse to vampirism.
