Ignorance is truly bliss.

Gifted with a name thatād fit any white soccer-momās child, Kayden is a spoiled young man of privilege, but a not terribly offensive snob. Usually. (Only a little snobbish maybe. Heās trying okay?)
He is becoming aware of his wealthy and luxurious upbringing, but. Not aware enough to escape the occasionally insensitive comment here and there towards those in situations far less fortunate than his own.
But wealth doesnāt solve everything, only just now grasping this conflicting feeling, heās unable to put it into words.
Thereās a sense of anxiety there but heās not sure why exactlyā¦
(The Why: Heās been set up for some sort of strange failure between his overprotective mother doting on him & his overall inexperience with doing basically anything on his own, & maybe changing things up in his life will help him realize that so that he can grow as a person. Heās only 22, thereās lots of room to grow!)
Interested in the idea of trying to take matters into his own hands rather than just paying someone else to do everything out of convenience, he tries to do things on his own in order to push himself to learn more and earn some form of respect but his concept of pushing himself is quite casual and he will still be far more likely to habitually attempt to problem solve with his wallet. (Change is hard.) He canāt be bothered to try and do every little thing himself after all. There are people around whose job is to do it insteadā¦ & so go his baby-steps towards slowly figuring out what to do with his current life.
A bit bookish, but not particularly intelligent, Kayden is well-educated yet still appears to have rocks for brains in many social situations. Simply put: he isnāt the brightest crayon in the box. Having been sheltered by his overprotective nearly helicopter-parent of a mother throughout his life, he lacks worldly experience & has lived a life that encourages cushy decadence & absolute ignorance. Extremely used to those around him simply doing as he asks, heās going to have to adjust to pushback or retreat back home to mum & hit the books. Which doesnāt sound as fun & exciting as venturing.
Kayden is the son of a wealthy married couple, who has lived a life of luxury for his entire existence. He's never had a job and currently is unsure of where he's headed, other than his inevitable inheritance of his parent's companies, but a job isnāt anything heās interested in getting for the time being. Heās in his prime and wants to have FUN!
His mother's end of his family company designs and manufactures high end self-defense products as well as surveillance and other safety devices, while his father's side creates any number of household and hygiene products ranging from detergents, perfumes and colognes to shoes and cutlery.
Marianne, Kayden's mother, is a huge self defense buff after experiencing a robbery at her former home in her young adulthood. Since then, she is serious about home security and has taken a variety of different courses for both women and men, and continues to develop products intended to help keep her family safe, and they can keep your family safe for a reasonable fee, assuming you can afford high-end home security productsā¦
She has made both her husband and their son take various self defense courses and instructed them in the use of self defense tools, especially during Kayden's childhood in which he used to take martial arts up through middle school until he took a few rough hits from other kids in the class. She then pulled him and he hasn't done much like it since.
His mother insists on having him carry a pepper spray canister or other self-defense weapon which he does so willingly, but never has much cause to use it in the rather safe areas he is used to commuting.
Kayden found his life to be a bit dull as of late, and wants to take a break from school and learning. Instead wanting to have a bit of fun and to do something exciting, and whatās more exciting than the recently appeared Gates? He knows self defense. Surely heāll be absolutely fine. Just downplay any riskier bits when explaining to his family and heāll be on his merry way into the mystery dungeons!
Due to his deciding to go out into the broader (and dirtier, overall shadier) world of Clearmoure outside of their Ponder Heights home, his mother commissioned him new street clothes, & is in the process of seeking a bodyguard to go alongside her son to help ensure he remains safe from harm. She often hires a bodyguard for herself, and is friendly with a few, who she brings with her on shopping trips and may tip by buying them a little something for their outfit!
Heās used to the safety of a bodyguard or other forms of security and feels rather uncomfortable without a companion with him. But thereās a bit of excitement in the idea of being more free too!
