Kalan is quiet and gentle, he is almost constantly on edge (due to the high priest), and he is a bit of a dreamer (he would love to just run away)

Description

On the shorter side, at 5'7". He has a slim, with a light tan, and long platinum blonde hair that is almost hip length (it is usually adorned with some kind of beading). He has ice blue eyes and coloboma of the iris, which causes his pupils to be shaped like keyholes. Kalan has soft, feminine features and is often mistaken for a woman.

He typically wears loose fitting clothes in darker colors (he is fond of blues), usually a long tunic-like shirt, pants, and a sash around the waist, he typically wears sandals or is barefoot. When he goes outside or is seen by the public, he wears a robe over his clothes and a scarf to cover everything but his eyes.

Background

Kalan is the current Keeper of the Keys, given the position for his key shaped pupils. The Keepers are typically women, and were never supposed to be otherwise, so he must keep his gender a secret and lets the high priest parade him around as a woman. His mother was the previous Keeper, she died when he was only 10 (making him the youngest keeper), and his father is the God of Destruction, Avdima.

The high priest does not allow Kalan to leave the temple, sometimes going so far as to lock him in his room. The man has a perverse obsession with him and does not want anyone else touching him. When Kalan does manage to sneak out, and the high priest discovers it, he is typically beaten to the point of passing out. Despite being half god, he has many scars on his body from the man's beatings.

Kalan enjoys sneaking out (even with the fear of being caught) and visiting the Import Goods store. He loves hearing Xerin's stories, never knowing if they're true or not, and looking at the different wares from places he can only dream of. It was at the store where he first saw Raiken and it was love at first sight. He was always afraid to approach him, so Xerin would find ways to force the two into interactions. Kalan dreams of one day being able to break free of what he is and running away to a far off land with the grumpy shop assistant (who hates the desert heat, anyway).
