Backstory

Born in Norway to a prestigious family, Max was aware of the privileges she'd been granted from very early in her life. With a prominent socialist for a father and a dedicated activist for a mother, she was instilled from birth with the belief that everyone deserves the same respect and opportunities in life, and a desire to make the world a better, more equitable place.

She fell in love twice: first with technology and second gaming. Coding was the eternal love of her life, but competitive card gaming became a passionate affair as well. As a teen, she made an impression at tournaments around the globe, with an ultimate dream of becoming a World Champion at least once before retiring from the competitive scene to focus more fully on a career. While continuing to hone her computer skills, Max chose not to attend university right after graduation so she could instead take time to focus on her game.

After Death

Despite Max's recovery, the accident that ended her life left scars in other ways. She takes more comfort than she ever has before in the safety that comes with hiding behind a computer screen. She hasn't made an appearance in the competitive gaming scene since, leaving many who once had high hopes for her to wonder what happened. An answer they aren't likely to get any time soon, considering her parents kept her death out of the presses to make sure she would have plenty of time to recover unbothered.

Attending Caer Sidi University had always been part of her dreams. Across countless visits for prosthetic appointments all throughout childhood, Max grew to consider the city almost like a second home. She has always kept up with the local happenings, something that's even easier to do now that it really is home! Once upon a time, the plan had been to return to Norway after completing her degree, but now she isn't so sure. At the moment she's comfortable where she is - which mostly means her own house with the curtains drawn, where she works and does occasional game streams on Llitch. Sometimes, though, it's the Asphodel Cafe and the other quiet safe havens she's found throughout the city.

The Future...?

In between what she considers her true job, Max does complete classes from the safety of her home. But most of her time and energy these days goes towards helping the underdog. Besides the volunteer work she does above board, she also closely monitors some of the most rich and powerful figures on the scene in Caer Sidi. She'd started her forays into hacking with giving herself admin privileges on forums before dabbling in gaining access to the email servers of her parents' political opponents. Really, the only next logical step was to start skimming some illicit funds from the bank accounts of the 1% and laundering them into the pockets of charities and the Concerned Citizens.

Recently, a couple of interesting figures have caught her eye. Vigilantes. (Heroes? She hopes so.) Hacker/streamer Axion seems like a valuable asset to them. And maybe they'll be able to give her some more direction as well...
