Last Updated on 8/22/22

Starting Age is 29 Moons and Birthday is September, 2019

Azrail is DMAB and was given his name without much thought, simply chosen because it was the first one that came to his parents' minds.

Azrail is a brown tom wit a lighter belly, legs, muzzle and underneath his tail. There are white spots all over with white along the end of his tail, his chest, paws and ears. Somehow he's managed to avoid having any scars, though he still is rather scrawny and small statured.

The tom has two main accessories, one being a bag he took from a dumpster that holds any trinket he finds interesting while the other is necklace. It has a fake birdskull with a gem on the forhead as well as smaller fake bones to either side of said skull. Azrail finds the bag and necklace to be some of his most important possessions.

As for Azrail's actual health, he is typically healthy and currently isn't having any problems with his current health. As for Impairments, Azrail doesn't have any very important ones, yet he does suffer from stunted growth and sometimes can be a bit weaker than he should. This isn't helped from being more on the skinny side due to facing some problems with hunting.

Open-Minded, Brave, Honest

Despite his peculiar hobbies and thought process, Azrail happens to be a very open-minded and honest cat. There isn't a reason to lie in his eyes, so he wouldn't waste anyone's time with it. At the same time, although he won't lie, he is interested in hearing other cats' points of view. Whether or not he'd listen or shift his beliefs can be debated, but Azrail wouldn't mind listening. As for his bravery, Azrail doesn't see a point in letting fears take over him. He feels it's stupid to let an emotion stop you from doing something, especially if he is curious about whatever he might do, though there are limits of course.

Overly Curious, Trouble w/ Boundaries, Slightly Materialistic

One of the biggest parts of Azrail's personality is his curiosity and need to know more about the world around him. Even if it could put him in danger or cause injuries, something about figuring out an unknown gives him a sense of duty and comfort. He can't trust cats, so he trusts the information he can find out by seeking it. This leads to his slightly materialistic tendencies as he doesn't have people to depend on so he finds his personal possessions to be very important. Couple this and not being good at socialization, and it makes it so Azrail might push boundaries or cross one without even knowing or meaning to. Mostly he is unaware if this happens.

Commitment Problems, Depressive, Pessimistic

In general, Azrail tends to be more depressive when it comes to his way of seeing life. It can be a lot and Azrail is probably certain it's why some don't bother to speak with him. Though he doesn't see this as a problem at times, that's simply because Azrail tries to not to work on his problems with commitment. Whether it be to keep up with cats in a friendship or, almost impossibly, more, h can't seem to let himself trust it. All the cats in his life either left or never truly cared in the first place so the idea of actually trusting someone is extremely terrifying. His views additionally are very pessimistic about most situations involving others, so he tends to simply avoid commitment at all costs.

History

TW for child neglect and deppresive thoughts! Be warned

0-5 Moons

From the moment that Azrail was born, it was clear he didn’t quite… fit in. His dark pelt was almost a blaring warning as to the struggles he’d face. After all, both of his parents were light colors, his mother, Mari, a light gray and his supposed father, Shane, a cream color. Sure, the white spots and green eyes did match his mother, but there was nothing that matched his father unlike his two siblings. It was pretty obvious what had happened, though no one ever dared say it out loud.

When he started to grow up, it became very apparent that they weren’t supposed to talk about it. Azrail even started to be ignored and almost cast out by his family, his father having started it before his mother joined in. Mostly he fought for the scraps as soon as he was eating solid food and often the only way for him to learn was by watching and staying quiet. Sometimes, if he was lucky, his siblings might sneak him a piece of proper food while Mari and Shane weren’t looking.

Because of this neglect, it would cause Azrail to have permanently stunted growth and make him smaller than he should be, which was saying something given he had already been a runt when he was born. It also made it so he didn’t have much skill with fighting or hunting, a reason he focuses on being a swift runner rather than stay and fight battles.

Azrail didn’t understand what he had done wrong, too young to get it, but he began to grow frustrated, not understanding why his siblings were so lucky and he was forced to barely get by. It wasn’t fair and every day he grew closer and closer to just leaving since clearly no one wanted him there.

6-11 Moons

The day he decided to leave had been building for moons, Azrail finally breaking when he suffered being yelled at and scorned for simply trying to steal some food for himself. He couldn’t stand being hated for no reason, not by his own family. At that point, he didn’t even bother saying goodbye as it wasn’t like it’d change anything.

Now being on his own and only 6 moons or so, it was a struggle to know what to do or how to get by. Often he could sometimes find kills left over, but many were nothing but fur or a few broken bones, especially with winter just barely ending at that point.

The first time he ever found anything that interested him was actually from one of those kills. Up till that point he was so scared about his survival that he hadn’t bothered to think about doing something fun. Then, suddenly, he found himself staring at this little rat skull that had been left behind, picked almost perfectly. It didn’t take a lot of effort before he managed to finish cleaning it off, leaving an almost perfectly undamaged skull.

It shouldn’t be something he liked, he felt, but then again, who was there to tell him it was wrong? Sure the rat died, but it left behind something that seemed so perfect. Azrail quickly began to seach for something to keep it in and managed to find a bag, huddling the bone inside of it for safe keeping.

From then on, collecting items he found interesting became a habit, wanting to indulge himself a little as it wasn’t like Azrail got to keep many things for most of his life up till that point. It felt freeing to realize he could do what he wanted, and for some reason the fears he held about death started to lift. If he could do anything, why would he bother worrying about death? It was beautiful and apart of life, clear to anything that existed around them.

As Azrail began to stop fearing the afterlife and things surrounding it, he began to try and talk to more cats again, but this appeared to be a bust. Many found his ease around death to be unsettling, especially with him starting to accept the fact one day he’d be dead and not care much about that.

It.. hurt, to say the least, so then he just made a habit of stealing food from the confused cats. If they didn’t want to bother being nice and would scorn him for such a stupid thing such as interests, then he wouldn’t want to bother making connections. He didn’t need family, so why should he need friends?

12-29 Moons

This problem with socializing and not wanting to make connections made Azrail start to wonder if he ever actually had a place or a use. No one wanted him around and all he did was scavenge, try to hunt, and hoard objects he loved. It wasn’t a fun thought, but… it made sense. In a world with so many things, there was bound to be people that held no greater purpose then eventually dying and being food for something else.

If Azrail hadn’t been recklessly brave before, he certainly was now as what did he have to lose? No family, no friends, no purpose, that all was left to the back of his mind and slowly he convinced himself that he didn’t care.

Having his little collection and being able to travel around the city was enough for him and he didn’t need anything more than that. Getting close to cats meant trouble and he didn’t want to deal with the heartache and problems that came with that.

About the time that these thoughts manifested, he had managed to find an old human trinket, a bracelet, and decided he’d keep it as a sign of accepting his ultimate fate. It was a string with fake bones and a fake skull on it, the skull having a jewel on the center of it. Azrail found it beautiful and refuses to take it off from around his neck, thinking it might go missing if he did.

When he was older, slowly the rumors of a group moving into the city rose up and he couldn’t help his curiosity. Again, what did he have to lose? Perhaps seeing them or going ot sometimes to explore the forest could mean more types of bones and skulls for his collection.

This is why Azrail tends to move between being in the forest areas and being in the city, not yet going into the territories, but sometimes spying from just outside them out of interest why they’d bother making a group. It couldn’t prevent anything and would only spread disease quickly during winter times in his eye, yet still part of him couldn’t help wondering what it was like despite doing everything not to think about it.

Azrail didn’t have a place. So many others also didn’t. That was all he should keep in mind to make sure his thoughts are in check.

30+ Moons

Rp Starts Here

Azrail's life hasn't changed much, but he did have a very strange dream at some point. What it meant he doesn't know, all he remembers is the wolf figure, the swamp surroundsings and the words "Son of none, walker of no where. Who will you aid?". It's extremely strange and vivid, but with no understanding of it being important he tries to believe it's just a nightmare.

On the real side of things, he has met a strange she-cat by the name of Bonnibel. The tom doesn't know what to think of her and finds it weird how insistant she is about them being friends. Why is she so worried about it? To him it's a bit suspicious as he refuses to believe that she could care for him much. They don't actually know anything about eachother, after all, and no cats were nice to him without a reason.

Having been to a few of the meetings before, Azrail had decided to go once again some moons later. Unfortunately this time there had been a coyote attack he was involved with during a meeting with outsiders and the Pack. He hadn't done much to help the fight, but more importantly he hadn't been harmed by the large predators either. He has pretty much made a vow to not risk going to those meetings again after that. Sure the meetings were entertaining at times, yet the risk of getting harmed was not at all worth it. He'll find other things to gain entertainment from.

At least, Azrail would have done so if he hadn't gotten hit with a terrible illness. It hit him extremely hard and only recently has eased up thanks to a few cats who offered some herbs over. Usually the loner wouldn't of trusted such kindness so easily, but he had been sick for two weeks and likely couldn't beat it on his own. With already being so thin before all of this, his motivations have moved to finding as much food as he could. Azrail wanted to put some more weight back on.

Extras/Fun Facts

Rp Example

Azrail stared closely at the bird skull in his paws, turning it here and there to search for any more signs of dirt or muck he should pull off. He had found the blue bird in the forest with a broken wing, an easy hunt for him to which he was grateful. He hadn’t been lucky enough to find a piece of food the day before, but that was just the way the world turned sometimes. One couldn’t be expected to always have food waiting right in front of them.

In general, the skull seemed to be in good condition, unlike the wing bones and some others which had cracked or been injured by the fall. It was truly facinating how one small break in a wing could cause the death of a bird to end so quickly. He’d say poor bird, but it was clearly it’s time. Not like it could of survived such an injury.

Shifting to sit up, he pulls the strap of his bag to bring it over and pulls the top open with his teeth. Gently he set the skull in with the rest of his treasures, admiring it. Now satisfied with his work for that day, he decides to head back to the edge of the city and find a place to sleep. If he didn’t go now, all the good spots would be taken by other strays.

  • No voice claim decided yet! I imagine his air is more airy and soft even if still clearly masculine.
  • His alignment is Chaotic Neutral and he is an INTP-T personality type!
  • Secretly, he is rathe jealous of kittypets or kits with happy homes. He never really acts on this, but it is a feeling he can't get rid of.
  • Once tried to climb onto the roof of a twoleg house and then got stuck for a whole night before he managed to get down.

Relationship Tacker

Bonnibel_Image.png
Bonnibel [ Strange Acquaintance ]

"... You are the strangest cat I've met. Why do you keep trying to be nice? What are you up to?"

Azrail is uncertain about Bonnibel's kind behavior and his mind hasn't allowed him to believe it is real. Mostly he assumes that Bonnibel must be after something or would need a reason to want to hang out with him. After so long of dealing with cats who didn't care or dispised him, it's difficult to see when someone is just trying to be friends. Maybe at some point he will see that Bonnibel only wants to be friends and isn't planning anything evil.

NPC Relations

Azrail_Father.png
Shane [ Mate of Mari, Estranged ]

"Are you proud of yourself...? Blaming a child for your mate's unfaithfullness...?"

Azrail's hate for Shane is imense and exceeds that of his hate for Mari. She was already awful after all, but Shane had a choice for what he could of done in response. The fact he was blamed for his mother having cheated on Shane is something he can never forgive and if he ever met Shane again then he wouldn't hesitate to release his hate. If only Shane had made Mari responsible for her actions then maybe he would had a normal childhood.

Azrail_Mother.png
Mari [ Biological Mother, Estranged ]

"You are no mother. What kind of cat lets one of their own children be treated as such? The least you could of done was own up to your mistakes."

Mari is a cat Azrail hopes to never see again. While it technically was Shane that started his neglect, Mari never had to follow in suit and it still surprises him that she didn't bother to care. Perhaps she was too ashamed of the fact she got caught being unfaithful, but it isn't an excuse and not something Azrail can forgive.

Azrail_Sister.png
Carissa [ Half Sister, Estranged ]

"I don't know where you are, but I don't blame you for what happened. You were at least kind to me."

Although extremely jealous of the kind treatment that Carissa got as a kit by their parents, he understands well enough that she shouldn't be blamed for him being outcasted. Azrail doesn't really feel a need to find her and, if he is honest, he fears the effect it'd have on his accepted fate. It's easier to not know his half-siblings.

Azrail_Brother.png
Daven [ Half Brother, Estranged ]

"I don't put any fault on you either. Wherever you are, I suppose I hope you don't feel guilt."

Similar to his feelings for Carissa, Azrail doesn't blame Daven for his treatment and is hesitant to think much about him. Everything is easier when Daven is just some stranger to him. Jealousy very much still exists of course, but it's easier to ignore and force deep down when the cat he is jealous of is simply a faint memory with no real connection.
