ABILITY: Colors of Mist & Upon the Tainted Sorrow

ABILITY DETAILS: Upon the Tainted Sorrow works in much the same way as her father, Chuuya’s, ability does, though Fumiko does not have as strong a grasp over it as he does, and it is currently unknown as to whether or not she has a Corruption ability alongside it. Colors of Mist, however, she has much more experience with, as it is her primary ability. Put simply, Colors of Mist will turn any target within 10 meters’s blood (specifically, the iron in their blood, and the haemoglobin) into flowers. A mist also appears and rises from the ground when this happens, and the mist “feeds” the growth of the flowers. The color of the mist affects what aspect of the flowers is affected, too, such as their size or growth rate, or how much iron/haemoglobin they need to consume to grow. In its idle state, it causes flowers to grow on Fumiko’s exposed skin and in her hair, though this does not affect her at all. She can become anemic, however, if she uses her ability too often or too much in one go.

BRIEF OVERVIEW: Despite — or perhaps in spite of — all appearances, Fumiko is not a completely heartless killer. In fact, when she is not on the job, Fumiko is often described as being a dreamer type, someone with big dreams of one day “being someone important” (as though she is not already), and sometimes a bit absent-minded due to her tendency to daydream. She has an affinity for the language of flowers, and studies it intensely (both the Japanese-exclusive version, as well as the version widely used in Europe, the United States, and most of the rest of the Western world). Fumiko is highly intelligent, though she does her best not to flaunt anything, including her smarts. She is fairly humble for a person of her standing; in fact, Fumiko is the youngest person, aside from her father Osamu, in the Port Mafia to reach Caporegime status at only fifteen. She is the leader of the Cats from Hell for that reason, as only Capos are allowed to control groups of men within the Port Mafia. Despite their role as assassins, Fumiko herself has a naturally caring heart, and is almost surprisingly gentle when not on the job. Even on the job, if she can find a way to end a conflict without bloodshed, she will do her best to do so. She is known for being merciful to those she believes deserve mercy… but savagely vicious to those who do not.

EXTRA:

• Fumiko has a speech disorder/impediment she inherited from Chuuya, however this alone does not cause her characteristic drawl and sometimes slurred speech; she also has a visible underbite, which causes one of her lower canine teeth to poke out over her lip, and the shape of her jaw is slightly crooked and strange. This does, however, also affect her singing, giving her the beautiful range she’s widely known throughout Yokohama for having, as she’s performed in choir, musical theater, and talent shows since she was very small. But because it makes her voice so unique, Fumiko refuses any kind of surgery or treatments which would aim to reset the shape of her jaw, for fear of losing her voice.
• Due to an accident when she was twelve in which she got blown up, Fumiko also has a massive burn scar on her body, mainly on the left side of her body. A bit of it shows on her face, but most of it is visible on her neck, chest, shoulder, arm, and back, going down to her stomach. She is also technically an amputee; her right leg and left arm were lost in the explosion, but she had them replaced with high-tech cybernetics, which she now sports with pride.
