Dreadbeak

Originally a human mage studying the dark arts, Dreadbeak became dreadbeak when his Vulture, Lepty, caused an accident that killed him. However, he came back as a lich, and his soul was jettisoned into a nearby desert scarecrow, complete with a potato sack body and a barrel cactus head, where he and Lepty spent out their days until the call to adventure took him. 

From then on, he performed evil for evil's sake, scamming and manipulating anyone who got in his way. He managed to conquer a whole kingdom this way, and with the help of all the evil people he cajoled, he created a new kingdom in his evil image. This was when he replaced his head with a pumpkin, following a deadly purple worm attack. 

An extremely boring century later, dreadbeak calls adventurers to his kingdom to relieve him of his undeath. This is where he got his scar, and his new rags.
