Surgery Mage

"Surgery - one of the oldest forms of magic. The earliest practices of laparoscopic physic required quick incisions and concentrated surges of healing magic to stave off infection and repair damaged tissue. Over time, this practice came to be known as 'surge-ry.' Practicioners of surgery were referred to as 'surge physicians', later colloquialized as 'surgian.' As the practice spread across the region and entered the lexicon of various languages, the term further corrupted into 'surgeon' - now the most commonly used spelling."
