Flax was the final experiment in a scientific project to create a brand of "marketable livestock". These creatures would have the cuteness of a cow, playfulness of a goat, and intelligence of a dog. They were meant to look like livestock but be trainable household pets. Flax was the 18th animal to be created for this project and fit the researcher's criteria but she had one overlooked flaw. She had intelligence greater than that of an average human. Using this trait to her advantage, she was able to escape the lab. She didn't escape because she resented her makers, but she instead was inspired by their work and escaped so she could make scientific studies of her own!
