ABOUT

"Not all heros wear capes, but this one does."

Phypu (pronounced /f'i.puː/ or Feepoo) is a young forest creature, that carries large similarities with the Physocarpus plant. Said plant has many different types in varying colors. Phypus head sprouts a thick layer of leaves and a few flowers instead of hair, as well as a long vine at the back of their head, which also sprouts leaves. Over the course of the year these leaves will shed and be replaced by a new layer of different colored leaves, which grow underneath. This way one can tell the rough time of year by the color of Phypu's leaves and petals.

Phypu is also almost competely blind. Their vision is heavily distorted and blurry. If they strain hard enough they can make out rough shapes around them enough to navigate themselves, but they find this to be very taxing and therefore they opted to let their leaves cover their eyes. As such they rely a lot on their hearing to locate things as well as just feeling around with their hands. Light rain can sometimes be helpful with locating things, but overshadowingly loud noises make it more difficult. If things are too loud they become overwhelmed, if they are too silent they will feel lost and disoriented.

DESIGN

  • The leaves on the vine on the back of their head is braided. It's very messy because its difficult to braid leaves but it's there.
  • The flower on their poncho is an accessory they swap out for each season.
  • The pattern at the base of their poncho is this celtic pattern.
  • The poncho does not have a hood, it's a large amount of clothes gathering around the neck.
  • They are typically accompanied by fireflies, as they seem to love Phypu's flowers.
  • In between seasons, shortly before or while they shed their leaves, the newer leaves in a different color can be seen poking through. If you are to lift their leaves during a seasonal change you will discover the new layer of leaves underneath.

BACKGROUND

Discovery

Phypu has been wandering the forests for a while and no one is really sure where they started out or what exactly they are. Neither does Phypu themselves. But that doesn't matter. Phypu is here and Phypu is thriving. There's plenty to explore in the forest, even more so without eyesight (depending on how you look at it) and they plan to explore as much as they can. To pet all the animals that will let them, to smell all the flowers, to find the nicest spots to absorb sunlight and plenty more.

Home

Thunderstorms are the worst for Phypu. It's all overwhelmingly loud. The heavy raindrops, the stormy winds, the booming thunder. It all becomes too much to locate anything, so typically they try to run back to their current hideout and wait out the storm but one unfortunate day they were traveling far and didn't have a hideout yet and when the sudden storm hit there was nothing they could do but cry out for help. There were no animals footsteps or river sounds to follow. It was too dark to see. Too loud to hear and too overwhelming to feel. So they cried out for anyone or anything to save them.

And then there was a hand holding theirs. They were lead through the rain and soon enough the sounds of the storm became quieter and the heavy drops on their skin were gone. A voice spoke softy to them. Sylvan was his name. A kind man. He too a child of nature who took them in and cared for them.

Aspiration

Sylvan is their friend. When Sylvan is there, Phypu is home. He helps them find their way to places they couldn't before, he protects them when the world is too noisy. And when they call out into the silence, his voice will answer.

Phypu hopes to be like him one day. But how could they, when they can't even see?

"You don't need to see to be a hero. Anyone can do good for others, regardless of how they experience the world", was what he said, as he laid the cape upon their shoulders. Maybe Phypu could be a hero!

RELATIONSHIPS

Sylvan is Phypu's best friend (so they say). He is like their big brother, who lends them a literal and metaphorical helping hand.

"You're just like a tree! Big, strong, calm, and you save smaller things from the rain." -Phypu to Sylvan

Sylvan belongs to my friend BlattieNG

Phypu is still lightly in development so don't mind this section for now ^^°

OTHER

  • glowy things
  • forest sounds
  • berries

DISLIKES

  • silence
  • litter
  • loud rain, thunder
  • water in their ears

TRIVIA

  • Phypu can get very attached to their friends. They love sharing their interests with them and they will follow other around like a little duckling.
  • While Phypu is a part of nature not every forest creature can or wants to keep up with their enrgetic and curious personality.
  • Even tho they are curious about many things, including the world outside the forest, they are scared to leave on their own and as such have barely ever left the forest.
  • Much like a plant Phypu requires water, sunlight and sufficient nutriens to survive. They live off of a vegetarian diet of the surrounding forest, minding to only take what is necessary. However, at times they can be caught enjoying a handful of dirt.
