02 — Personality
They are very quiet. They're more level-headed and average compared to Calri. Khlaus tends to get very annoyed with silly remarks but tries to not lash out most of the time. Most times they will take any jab like a champ, but that's only if it's from Calri. They usually lash out with others due to their short temper. Despite how tiny they are they pack quite the punch.
Khlaus doesn't tend to smile a lot but when they do it's worthwhile. They tend to have an annoyed look as their "default face", they wish it would scare people more but with how small they are, they fail miserably. They dislike it when other people point out their height and make fun of it.
With how angry they look most of the time, they're really good at hiding their emotions. Khlaus is usually thankful with Calri around but doesn't show it. The same thing applies when they are upset or happy. Although, during these certain feelings it's easy to pinpoint how they're feeling through choice of words than facial expressions. However, when Khlaus is extremely upset they will show more visible reactions and may even cry. (It is a rare circumstance though).

03 — Background
Childhood
Khlaus lived in Station Square as long as they could remember. They came from a poor family and stayed with their older brother since they were two years old. They would usually stay cooped up in their tiny apartment building while their brother would work in order to provide for the both of them. Because they lived with their older brother since they were really young they do not remember their parents. Despite not knowing their parents, their older brother would tell stories about them, usually positive. Although, their brother never would mention what happened to them.
They always looked up to their older brother and wanted to become as cool and dedicated as him. So they would normally beg him to let them help in providing for the daily expenses. Their older brother would always refuse in their offer each time saying, "This isn't really meant for someone as young as you. I don't need you getting hurt." They both left it at that and never mentioned it again.
Change
Both siblings went on with their normal things as usual for a few years. When Khlaus turned ten years old, they bid their brother goodbye as he left for work which he gave back in turn. Their brother didn't come back that day and just seemed to vanish. For a few days, they went out to look for their brother but turned up empty-handed. Khlaus became really devastated and reclusive. Everything was different without their brother and they have no one to provide for them anymore.
Instead of sulking and starving. Khlaus ventured out as a ten year old to look for any possible jobs. Unfortunately, no one was looking for a child to employ. Their morality seemed to shift drasitically however as they would attempt to do anything to obtain a little bit of cash. Suddenly resorting to fighting with others, mainly using their sharp nails as a weapon with no fighting experience. It would work most times but any other time they would come back heavily injured.
Meeting Calri
After a year of using this method for money, one fight left them completely beaten to a pulp. Completely battered and weak, they moved to a wall in an alley to rest and hopefully be undisturbed by others. That wasn't the case they hope for unfortunately when a girl approached them in worry. With their violent nature, they attempted to growl and swing at her to keep her away. She, however, was not fazed by their actions and kept insisting to help. Eventually, Khlaus gave up and accepted her help regardless.
With the girl's help, they led them to their apartment complex to get fixed up. They later learned the girl's name was Calri. After tending to their wounds, Calri kept begging for her to keep taking care of them and a kid like them shouldn't be getting in so much trouble. The girl was really persistent despite Khlaus' dismissals. Again, they didn't want to bother arguing about it further and just went with it.
Present
Looking back, Khlaus is glad Calri was very persistent in wanting to stay. Even if they didn't want to admit it, they really enjoyed Calri's energy and presence. Even thinking she was similar to their older brother couple years ago. Although, they never mentioned their brother to her. But in reality, it didn't bother them too much when they had Calri to depend on and she could depend on them too.
They try to pretend to not worry about Calri's hobbies. And always try to stay in quieter areas and sleep but is usually interrupted by Calri and Flee. She would burst in their room to explain upcoming plans with excitement and ocassional jabs. Ultimately it would annoy Khlaus but they have gotten used to it during the last couple of years and that find it more reassuring than anything. Reminding them that she's still here but they sometimes worry she would disappear like their brother.
04 — Trivia

Khlaus' name is a play-off of their very sharp nails that are usually confused for cat claws.

The scarf they wear is a gift from Calri on their thirteenth birthday. They take good care of it but hates to admit it.

They like to watch documentaries, they try to not let Calri know though.

Surprisingly they are very picky with most foods but try to eat them regardless.

They really enjoy calming tunes and the ocassional guitar. They started liking more extrem songs because of Calri.

Once in a while they would sharpen their nails. They like it to usually scare others away from them. Calri caught them once, which really embarrassed them.

Even though Khlaus gets really annoyed with the chao, they would sneak in a treat for them once in a while when they're in a good mood.
05 — Relationships
Best Friend/Roommate
Usually goes through her antics daily. Dealing with her is so much more of a chore than a nuisance at this point of time. Khlaus usually gets annoyed with her pranks and jokes but learned that's just how she likes to express herself and show that she cares. Either way, they still get irritated but not a way that they hate her. Overall, Khlaus is just really worried about her wellbeing despite not showing it.
Calri reminds Khlaus of their older brother who disappeared long ago. He's never mentioned to her whatsoever but they can't help but sometimes sees similarities but try to push it aside. Even if Calri is the one ultimately taking care of their bills and such, Khlaus would willingly choose violence if the time calls for it.
Acquintance/Rival
Flee is Calri's partner in crime and best bud. Khlaus' relationship with Flee is complicated. They do not care much for the chao nor do they even bother taking care of him. Khlaus knows Calri wouldn't leave him behind so they leave Calri to take care of him. It is her pet chao afterall, not theirs.
Just like Calri, Flee likes to bother Khlaus too. Like owner, like chao. Flee likes to take Calri's attention away and make them jealous. Khlaus finds it ridiculous and bothersome. A chao trying to compete with them is a silly concept. (Even though the chao's antics do work against them but they don't want anyone to know that.)
