Midori "Miko" Keroko

Up until she was six years old Midori lived with her parents and older brother Yu in Celadon City, Kanto. Her mother worked at Silph Co. in the neighboring city and her father was the manager at the casino in Celadon. About three months after her sixth birthday, Midori's parents and her brother were in a car accident. Her mother managed to get out with minor injuries, her father had an injury to his back that he needed physical therapy for but her brother Yu was hospitalized and eventually died as the impact of the crash was centered on his side of the car.
Midori's mother and father were devastated and inconsolable for some time. Her mother threw herself into her work to keep distracted from the loss and Midori's father turned to alcohol and gambling. The neglect Midori suffered was obvious to everyone they knew so her aunt and uncle who lived in Kalos offered to take her in for some time until Midori's parents were free from their immense grief. But weeks turned into months and eventually years.
Midori was fifteen when she met Mochi, a Poliwag that was one of many being raised to be Politoeds so they could be harvested for their legs, a delicacy in Kalos. Sad that she couldn't save them all nor could she stop to entire practice altogether, Midori was at least happy she could save Mochi, her best friend in the world.
A year later Midori's uncle took ill and eventually passed away. Midori dropped out of school to take care of her aunt who mysteriously became ill as well shortly after. When she passed Midori was sure it was because of a broken heart after her uncle's passing. Midori's aunt left her a letter saying that she should try to go home and be with her parents again but if she did not wish to her aunt said she would understand. There was still some people Midori knew well in Kalos but due to the memories and the absence of the only people who seemed to care enough for her, she felt it was time to go and find a place to call her own home, Mochi at her side.
