Backstory
After several years of the sludging routine (impersonally neutralizing targets was so boring. It was always the same -- where was the adventure? The thrill?), Nysia hatched a plan to essentially disappear. She spent a few years after this making the most of her Monk training, mastering the skills as best as she could, until she felt they were sufficient enough for her to be able to survive on her own. She escaped the Monastery soon after without any notice, at the age of twenty-three. She never bothered looking for her mother -- to be honest, she didn't care all that much.
Nysia has spent the last few years fleeing from town to town, seducing overeager fools and making away with anything she finds of value -- anything she can use, like weapons, clothing, or food, along with anything she can sell that would fetch a decent price. It's not a glorious life, nor one that many people would find fulfilling, but it's fun. Nysia always has been a thrill seeker.
She did meet a Kenku a couple years after leaving the Monastery, who, like a fellow criminal would, stole an amulet from her (an amulet that she also stole). Being the person that she is, she clearly wasn't going to let that go. She tracked him down to his hideout, and while he was away, stole back the amulet (along with anything else she wanted, just for good measure). A few weeks afterwards, Nysia spent the night at an Inn, to sleep in a real bed for once, and when she awoke she noticed the amulet was gone again, with a feather scribbled on a piece of parchment resting on her bag. That goddamn bird again. Again, she clearly could not let this go, and so that game of cat and mouse continued. Everytime Nysia sees a feather, now, she just yells "I know you're there you dumb dick ass bird!", because she is not going to miss an opportunity to get back at him.
The story so far
Nysia awoke in a dim room, with nothing more than a cot, a toilet, and a large metal door. The room was rumbling, and there was an alarm of some sort going off just outside the door. She could see red flashing from the crack under the door, and the smell of sulphur was invading her senses. The door opens and Nysia walks into the red lit hallway, met with a menagerie of others and a storage room on the opposing wall. The group opens the door, and finds boxes labled with their respective names, containing a familiar weapon and an otherwise empty satchel. The party moves down an east hallway and continue down the staircase. The group is met with a Bone Naga, which they persuade and manage to pass safely. They are met with another steep staircase, which falls out from under their feet. They fall to the ground below, where a seemingly human girl is weeping. The child is later found out to be a Lamia, which is defeated. The party then leaves the building where they are met with the mother Bone Naga, but are saved by a ragtag group of adventurers. The group leads them into the town, where they stay the night at a tavern. They run into two werewolves within the Tavern, one of which kills Nysia, before she is swiftly revived. The following day, the parties go their seperate ways.
They travel for several days, defeating several creatures (and murdering a salesmen in cold blood), before they come across a large thin crystal made of glass. The air smells of sulphur, and there are files and paperwork strewn around, which hold pictures of two party members, similar to a mugshot. It mentions two gold rings which could not bbe removed from the party members in question. They continue travelling, reaching en Elven temple. It is in disrepair, with hundreds of stone statues You realize these were the temple's people. (Nysia punches one child's statue in the face because it looked like a mean child.) There are lines of statues of elves climbing up the stairs, reaching to the heavens. Praying, kneeling, sobbing to an unknown god. After realizing the rings are keys, the statues are crumbled and the elves are released from their stony prisons.
They investigate a portal and end up in Dremmonor, the second earth. The colour from everyone's bodies is sapped, and the land around them is rotted and stangnant. The dirt littering the ground is ash from long departed bodies.Friends, enemies, and everything in-between
